Getting ready to start this little kitty. Almost looks like a /35 kit spread out. Time to clean the Opti-Visor lenses.

Great to see another King Tiger! Sure has a lot of parts for a 1/72, looks like plenty of nice detail.

You're doing the same thing Gary did a little while back...each build stepped down in scale...but he chickened out at 1/72! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one Marc.

I know it will proabaly make me go blind... So many tgings in life that can make one go blind ;D Wish there was a Panther or Tiger II in 144th. Is there any other kits in 144th beside that old Dragon Panzer Korps series from '04?
Yup Gary, that's the plan.

Marc,
Zvezda offers some items in 1:100 scale but unfortunately it doesn't include a Panther or KT.

With the storm coming and my jobs being postponed I am looking at a couple of good bench time days. Should have a few updates with the next 2 days. Started working on the little kitty last night. The extra track hooks are molded to the turret and are not “hooks”. These where straightened (the one s onthe right) to make the tracks fits better and the end bent a bit into hooks to look better. The front mud guards were cut off as these and the side fenders scale up to 4.5’. A new front mud guard can be seen in a pic a further down. Just a couple of sections of the fenders will be made from sheet styrene. Some surface texture was added with a rock. I have a couple of different rocks that I press into the surface then sand down and ridges formed. Big gap in the back and while I think I have the piece properly set against the guides on the inside I really find it hard to believe that Dragon could have gotten it that wrong. But stranger things have happened. Regardless, there is enough flex that the clamps will hold it right until some glue sets. I made new tools to hang in the side. The hammer and axe handles on the top of the hull were undercut a little to give the appearance they are not molded on the surface. Can’t see it the pic though.

Nice update on the various details Marc, looking good. I like the fact that you use different rocks to get texture, very ingenious method.

Here's the latest progress. The brass PE screens came with the kit and the nickel plated ones are from the spares box to replace the solid plastic parts that cover those vents. The scale is a bit big but still a better look than the plastic. Scrap brass for the vision ports on the front and new fenders and a mug guard, the other side has a busted hinge. from plastic card.

The molded on cable was sanded off and replaced a new one made from twisted wire. An upcoming task is going to be separating commander's vision ports that are molded together on the cupola and making a new MG mount ring. On another forum a buddy wanted to see my "giant penny" but I thought a 1/35 turret might just have the same effect ;D

Braille detailing is trending, aside from space saver its an achievement to finish with corrections and detail
