LOL! Of course I was talking about the real deal... never really paid attention to the size of the turret now I realize it is massive. The artwork on my Dragon #6232 KT box made the turret look much smaller...
Sorry about the disaster. Silly putty works the best... well it was the only method I have used so far. Keep it coming buddy!

Toothpaste? TOOTHPASTE?
WOW, that is something I never would have considered. Too bad the first go round was a bust, but I know you'll work it out. Try Tom's of Maine - Organic with no alcohol.
As always, I'm looking forward to the next installment.

At least you can save the build with acrylics. You are going to give it another go.. Yes?

Hat's off to you Marc for the willingness to try something and also to keep at it when it didn't work out. I would second the recommendation of using blue-tack for masking, it's my preferred method for hard-edge stuff as a rule.

Thanks to all you guys for trying to cheer me up. Good news.. IT WORKED Back at it. Soaking in some Windex and then turning back the hands of time to a places I've already been. Bill I love using blue tack, or similar, but with all the tools etc already on I was worried getting it down all the way and then about getting it off and leaving the tools behind. The paste seemed to be perfect for getting into all the nook and crannies. Which technique do you use? The ropes with the inside area filled? Or a big piece stretched to fit as needed? Just curious. BTW, I did do a test "squirt" (don't even say it ;D) with some of the canned icing. Even though it was somewhat greasy and had to be washed with some dish soap it worked great. So now I just have to decide to try that or go with brushing.

When I use the blue tack, I go with the 'ropes' approach vs. trying to mask off entire areas with large amounts of the blue tack. I can understand the concern you hae with the tools and such...normally if I'm going to mask I do that before installing tools and then just brush paint the clamps and other odd bits that need paint to match what the camo pattern turns out to be. Blue tack isn't super 'grabby' if you don't press it too agressively onto things as a general rule

you can also try Gary's technique Hand brushing Vallejo paint, or paint the whole tank then hand brush the tools as Bill suggested, but nothing wrong in experimenting with other techniques, keep it up, Wings!!

Still catching up after the 3!tch Sandy screwed everything up. Finally not too pooped to sit at the bench. It's not much but at least now I can start brush painting... if i get the nerve. This was actually harder than one would have thought. Drawing the lines following a color plate then all of a sudden they don't line up so to speak and the logic of the pattern is gone and it confusing as heel to get it back on track. I decided part way throught that it was easier to make X's and O's instead of R's and G's. Yeah... that made it easy

look like German Tic-tac-toe! I can't figure if I won or not Turret almost done. Some touching up to do. This is going to be a long tedious process. But I think once its all faded and washed and grudged up it will look OK.

What you are doing has brought me great memories of painting when I was a boy. Remember those art works where you paint based on numbers or letters?
Hang in there... I know it will come out just great as usual.

So long as the kitten playing with the yarn is a Tiger you'll be fine Marc! ;D
Off to a good start...and yes I can see now where having the tools on would be a PITA for the pattern...but now you know for the future!

Bill, 1st it was around the little suckers. Now it going to be PAINTING the little suckers. Gary... didn't you mean... LOOOOOOOONG & TEEEEEEEEDIOUS Holy crap what a PITA this was. Once I tone it down with a buff filter so it is less stark it will look better. But I am pretty pleased with the outcome. Couldn't have done this with anything but Vallejo.

Thanks all for the comments. Really appreciate them.
Tony the never again was only for the tools on board pre-paint.
I fear I may never be able to stop building armor. Nah... not fear... hope!
Steve it was touch and go for a while. It flat lined for a moment but I hit it with the paddles... CLEAR... and jolted it back to this side of the grass.
