Hello there Boo, thanks for watching my thread friend ! The place rocks you're right, and the members are the greatest ! Well guys, the heavy mortar build is done, now it's time for primer, some Rob's hocus pocus rust tricks and more ! The barrel has turned already, mixing fine sand and Tamiya Surfacer (thinned) to create the look of old, hardened cement... Best regards ! G. * Have a nice weekend my friends !

Hello Guy, The concrete mixer is plus model ain't it? I did one myself... It's a very nice kit to give 'extra' in a diorama. what is the color you will apply? (personal favorite...orange ) Have fun this weekend ! Greetings, Gert

Rob, I'm gonna do the best I can !
eastrock, it has to match the Dodge, that will be the most delicate part of the finishing.
gert, indeed mate, it's Plus Model, mine will be pale blue I think...(do you have a pic of your barrel mixer ?).

looks cool, glad you added a bit of hard cement to the insides, but i think you should add al ot more to the outsides, the axel would be covered in it and so would the beam at the bottom and out side of teh barrel would have a fair bit of it too, cant wait to see more

Nice mixer Guy.
I agree with spud, these things get really covered in Cement really fast. One sugestion would be to give it a combination of mud splashes like they do in the AK weathering DVD. You know, with the plaster of paris and air brush. This efect would be perfect to simulate the layers of splashe cement. The AK dust efects would be a perfect color for this.
Anyway, this is gonna look good in an already outstandin Dodge.

John has the right idea, plaster, pigs and dust effects for the cement. That's what I was thinking when you first posted the mixer.

Maybe a pile of bricks scattered next to it !!

DickyF, thanks ! This is supposed to be the icing on the cake indeed, the finish has to be convincing or I'll have to start all over again.
T, thanks, first I didn't know what to throw in the trunk, until I found the barrel mixer ! Now I have kinda theme to inspire me...the forgotten Dodge of a retired brick layer...
spud, I'll give it a good cement splatter after the painting stages. The inside of the barrel won't be painted blue, I'll finish it with a range of cement color mists...thanks bro !
bigjohn, adding the cement splashes will be the top moment of the whole weathering stage.
Rob, those are the right ingredients for it mate ! It will rock ! Absolutely a good idea, bricks, an old cement bag containing hardened cement (lovely thing to sculpt and I'm gonna do that for sure !)...tiles, all the stuff a builder has ! The mixer was the key for inspiration my friend !

Don't forget a cement caked trowel, some buckets for water etc.

Good thinking Rob, love your ideas (my trunk will be too small !!!) I gave the barrel a good ol' spankin' and now it has a more battered look ! Hope you like it so far, best regards my good friends ! G.

Looks real all beat up guy. Back in my Brick laying days, we used to smack the mixer with a hammer at the end of the day to knock all the mortar loose. the mixers ended up looking just like yours.
