Tell me, how do you weather the metal tools? Cheers Hey brother Wouts, The tool handles are base coated in Vallejo Panzer aces Old Wood. With the handels already being sealed in gloss then matt clear, i use Mig Oil color Abt080 Wash Brown and a wee bit of mineral spirits and mix a dab on my color pallet. I then Use a small tip round brush and gently aplly the oil paint in the same direction, end to end, to simulate a hint of wood grain. Once it dries awhile you can go back and mess with it to make the grain effect less stark or add more. After i get it like i want ill let it dry then seal it with Vallejo Matt. You then can tint the overall color with washes/filters or the like..........Good greif...I went on a bit, huh Wouts! Hope that made sence my friend. Gary |

nice to know how you do the woodgrain, defo worth a try. I usually apply burnt umber oil paint and remove most of it later on. But yours looks much better  but I was especially interested in the metal parts of the tools, how do you that bro? ;D  And thanks for the explanation, always helpfull, one can't have too much explanation ^^ Cheers |

Looking good Gary, and fast too. I didnt manage to finish a single kit in 2012, I'll have to turn that around this year though

Hello gentlemen, Carl, ive had some pretty chewy stale Cheeto's before.....aint sayin' i didnt finish tha lot......  Hey Brett, thanks for tha kind words fella! I decided i was gonna mount the tarp roll, so on i went. First three straps went pretty well....started from back to front....the forth.......      ........Just couldnt seem to nail the buckel just right so i made another, then another, lost it to the carpet vortex, then another, ond so on....till i finally got one i thought was ok and glued it all together and attatched. Now that ive spent 3 DA*N hours on 4 tiny buckles and straps im not happy with the last one. Now im itchin to yank it of and try again, but sleep is upon me and i got to give it up or ill make it worse. So after all that i give you 1 pic! ;D Anyways, heres what it is now. Maybe im just too picky.......  Man, im cranky this evenin'! ;D Night all...... Gary |

looking good gary. had the same issue with the hawk last week. working on something got really frustrated and, for the first time, put it away and went to bed. the next session went much smoother.

I think Gary was just messing with us to see if we could tell which of the four buckles was so terribly bad it would cause him to lose sleep! Andy's right, he needed an excuse to go through more cat food (either that or his recent cold/flu has left some odd side effects!).
Seriously Gary, that's some nice work. I feel your pain about this kind of detail though...sometimes something will just stick in your mind and you can't leave it alone, but in this case they all look great!
