It's been on the shelf for a year now, could not stand looking at it any longer. The subjects Straight OOB, I'll even use the rubber band tracks. Neat little kit, went together in an afternoon. I did wire the smoke grenade dischargers, tho Compared to the modern Russian builds, this one looks kind of plain to me. Had an awful time covering the orange-tan plastic this one's molded in, it still needs one more light coat. Will be back Regards, Mark

LMAO! Too late I am already suffering brass withdrawal!!! You have chosen a great subject to build... love those Pz IIIs! I held a GB for all Pz III and its variants at other forum... and nobody can complain about its fewer wheels!
You have my FULL attention. Nice touch adding wirings to the smoke dischargers! Have same Dragon figures set and I thought they were great. Are you planning to use all four figures?

Very cool Mark, looking forward to seeing you work your usual magic on this one. Seems to be the right time of year for winter-themed builds!

Thank you all for looking and the nice comments I did look around for some PE detail kits and did not find much that was not included in the kit so why bother. Sorry, Andy. It seems I am not alone in my affection for these neat little tanks, there's an appeal to them I can't quite put my finger on. I can blame Bill for the upcoming paint job, his recent captured T-34 turned out so nice I just had to try something like it. I will follow the box art/painting instructions with some artistic license and make it kind of stripey, tho. Been playing with layout to determine borders and it'll probably be close to this I must elaborate on the Dragon Gen II figures. For a guy that's accustomed to five or six part figures these sets are pretty labor intensive with 12 parts apiece not including equipment. They are pretty gappy But beautifully molded So what's a little putty and thick CA. It's worthy to note I'll probably spend three times the hours on the figures that I will the vehicle, but, having done a couple of these sets before the effort should not go unrewarded unless I bungle them. Regards, Mark

Thanks guys Well, much to my disgust I botched the stripe winter camo pattern. All was going fine until the airbrush decided to spit a large gob of paint which pretty much ruined things. To be honest, I was not really too happy with the overspray either. All is not lost, however, being adaptable I simply did this so nyah, nyah tempremental airbrush. This change of paradigm requires different thought on my part but should not alter the outcome overmuch. Regards, Mark

Thank you gentlemen Well, not everything is on it yet, and much to my surprise for a kit from Tamiya, the tracks need adjusting, but here's how it stands at present I'm sort of glad the airbrush acted up, perhaps it's smarter than I am as I think I like it better this way. Chipping by sponge mostly, a bit of fine brush but for once I did not overdo this. More to come Regards, Mark

Thank you all gentlemen Tamiya molds some quite passable rubber band tracks lately. While they are not the last word, I hate indy link assembly enough that I'll take the hit to avoid doing so as long as they don't look too awful. Let's see, now...everything stuck on, clear coat on, decals on, raw umber overall wash, pin wash (I decided to try a medium grey instead of dark brown, whaddya think?), tracks adjusted accordingly, I think it may be done excluding flatcoat. If anyone sees something undone or improvement worthy, please do not hesitate to say so if you'd be so kind. On to large seam filling on figures, yuk. Regards, Mark

WOW Mark, that is really a nice job on that the chipping looks perfect. And I never would have believed those are rubber band tracks if ya hadn't said so.
