Hey Andy, I wouldn't worry about the wheels. With the overlapping Friuls they will hardly be seen. The chipping you have done, imo, looks fine and not overdone whatsoever. One thing I have learnt is to think how long a particular build may have been in the field and how much rust/weathering it would have accrued in at that time. Pretty obvious and I'm sure you do that anyway. Being an initial Tiger personally I'd have taken a file to the tyre edges to round them off a bit to show wear that way. Perhaps that's something you can do with the other wheels? Btw: I'll be using Friuls on my Late Tiger and as a result my DS tracks will not be needed so if anyone has any GENUINE need for them they are welcome to them i.e. to replace the vinyl tracks and not to simply add them to you spares box as I'd rather do that myself! If someone who is building a Tamiya Tiger or JT and plans on using the awful Tamiya kit tracks I'd love to see these great DS tracks on your build to really elevate it's appearance! Let me know, Ben

Andy Deafpanzer says "VERY CLEAN workbench means only one thing... "Saying that you have the wrong Friuls now if you want to be truly accurate Ben If you read one of my previous posts on the previous page you'd find out that you are not 100% correct about that issue ;D Cheers

Great kit, great subject and of course great start Andy. That's what I do with almost all my wheels. It doesn't take long for the rubber on a tanks wheels to get chewed up.
Looking forward to seeing this one get all dirty.

Dicky- I will take you up for the special VIP tour! I drink anything except for cheap beer. I have family relatives living in Cornwall and Salisbury, England and I haven't visited them since 2006 so hoping to visit again. My grandmother was clever enough to marry an American sailor during WWII to get her ticket out of England. LOL ;D Wouter- Thanks for the info. Have the book 'Tiger in the Mud' but I haven't read it yet. Glad you like the chipped wheels. Stay posted! Ben- No need to worry... already have this set in my stash so will build it one day as it has elephant ears. That's why I am going for "3"... According to Wouter's comment I will go ahead and use Friuls. I took another good look at DS tracks and I don't think I want to touch them again. LOL I have been spoiled... can't live without Friuls now. Who knows I will end up ordering the correct Friuls set. But I noticed prices have jumped significantly and it costs $52 plus shipping now. Ouch! Robbo- Thanks! Finished last set of wheels... had very little bench time last night. So glad to be done with the darn wheels! Rob- Thanks! Happy to have you aboard! Sight any nice looking neighbors yet? ;D

Hi Andy, actually, kit 6600 is a Smart Kit rebox of the one you are showing here, but with some mods and less etch. David Byrden helped on the info for kit 6600, for instance, the high exhaust stacks in kit 6600 are correct for Tiger '100', unlike in the previous kit if I'm not mistaken btw, like you I like Friuls very much, but I must admit, even they aren't perfect. If you want to have the right sag AND correct tracklink count, it's MasterClub resin tracks which you need. Used them on my Tiggy '100' and I loved them, easy to assemble as well. Will have a go at them another time I think! Now where the h'll is that update? ;D ;D ;D Cheers

Adding some damage to the rubber rims is a nice touch Andy! To add a bit to the spare road wheel question...changing road wheels on the Tigers was a monumental task and not something easily done by the crews working alone. One of the drawbacks to the interleaved design vs the simpler Pz III and IV suspensions. If you were changing a wheel you were likely already at a field workshop that had spares to begin with, so no need to keep spares around on the vehicle itself.

Wouter- LOL! Update? It is on its way. Things have been so busy at work this week but I am glad its over. Never heard about Masterclub and they do look good. A friend sent me a message about a dealer that sells Friuls at very reasonable price $38 so I am checking it out. Am aware that it is a rebox from 6252 with less PE but I am so glad you mentioned about correct pieces for "100" coming from #6600 so I will save unused parts. Thanks buddy! Bill- Thanks my friend... that explains why we often see 'mobile' workshop in trucks and bet they were not far behind the Tigers. Dicky- Great about Salisbury! Never forgot the tourist trap my wife and I got into... Stonehedge. It was great but costed us a fortune to get in and we even had to pay $10-$12 for parking in middle of open space. LOL Gary- LOL! Its on way... not much last night. Body crashed on the couch after a long week. Today I will be at Purdue University football... hope you like football too. Kenny- Thanks mate! Hope you don't have to wait so long for it to be done. ;D SS- Thanks!!! OCD has some benefits but glad it is not as severe as my father-in-law.

Nice work mate, lovely tow shackles, they really make a nice addition ey about the two 'pins' on the backplate: on which you add the crank starter plate: David Byrden suggests you remove about 1mm of the length of the pins to get the correct distance (ok, this sounds a bit like rivetcounterizing ;D) probably you know this site allready but I'll post it up to be sure, very usefull: tiger1.info/models/products/DR6600keep up the good work bro! Cheers

The picture above posted by Andy shows 'Shackles' or if you needed to be specific you could simply say 'U' shape shackles or 'U' shape 'tow' shackles maybe.
I got a set of 4 in 1/35 scale for my Initial Tiger I when I built mine (the same kit as Andy's) and they were superb. The threaded bolts actually screw into the holes - they only cost me a couple of pound here in the UK. Mine were Shackles from RB Models.

Wouter- It is scary that you read my mind... yes, its one of references I am using to build my Tiger. That's why I didn't glue the starter plate on until I figure out how to cut it properly. I have no idea how long 1mm is... remember we Americans don't use metric system. LOL I still need to add a supporting rod inside the hull to make it slight wider too. Great information coming from David's website I have to agree! Gary- No questions those shackles are great... aftermarket set. Glad you like football too! Great game but scores were way too high 51 to 41 Purdue won. For sure I will need a long break from looking at football players butt for a long time because where we sat today... ;D bullardino- Believe it or not RB Model makes those shackles and they were not that expensive. I ordered directly from Poland along with many great stuff. Glad you liked 'em too. Ben- Looks like we share same addiction... Friuls and RB models. Its still your fault. LOL But I still love you man!

Little update... spent more than 4 hours dealing with PE but I can only post couple of pics. Rear fenders- Completed. Those two were probably most difficult PE experience I have encountered so far I admit. I wanted one fender to be banged up a bit. Hitch- Completed. Wood box- Completed. Rear lamp- Completed. Tool box- In process... it actually opened and closed but I had it glued permanently. LOL Hope to finish the rear tonight because I will not have any bench time til next week. A wedding in Philly... City of Brotherly Hate if I am correct. ;D

Bullardino- Cheers!
Boyd- LOL! It is always great hearing from you. Glad you liked my previous build. Guys like you keep me motivated to keep building. Building is probably my favorite part of modeling so I'd like to extend it as long as possible by doing PE stuff or it would have been over by now. ;D Every time I am about to give up I just think of those awesome PE works by wing_nut, Pvt Mutt and others.
Phil- Thank you for nice words. Am afraid I will not be able to post an update for a week... appreciate you stopping by.
Rob- Thanks boss! ;D
Ben- Blame you? I will try my best but it really helps me defend myself every time my wife scold me when she sees our credit card statements. LOL
Bet you are already planning your next three or four builds with your bonus pay. I recall Pz IV from Spud may be next?
Spud- Thanks mate!!!
Guys- Am afraid I will not be able to post an update for a while. Today is the biggest day at work... 20th anniversary celebration. Expecting 150 people. I am so grateful I don't have daughters... way too much work planning a banquet.
Then off to Philly for a family wedding this weekend. Know any good hobby shop in or outside Philly in PA? ;D
As usual I appreciate your support.
