Gary , here's something that this Novacan does that i wasnt pleased about . The solution doesnt get into the little crevices on the tread pattern side . I dont think its due to residue from the molds , i cleaned these with lacquer thinner . I touched these spots up with flat black . Easily done . HTH bro .

Dig the pics of rear idler! I spot some orangish stuff on the tracks... are those rust or remains from your Cheetos? Either way the tracks look GREAT!!!

Nice tracks, Carl To get the solution into the small crevice, did you try to spread it with an old toothbrush? I've never used both metal tracks and darkening solutions, but I read in a lot of places it is the best way to make it work in the nooks and crannies...

This stuff is EXACTLY like Blacken-It, now that I see the silver spots where the air bubbles get stuck. Luigi is right, you gotta get it in there with a toothbrush.
If you do them before they are linked... just put them on the bottom of the run.
As far as it being more at a stained glass place... that is relative. Blacken-It is about $10.50/4 oz. I've seen the Novacan stuff on-line for about $6/8 oz. As long as the specialty shops aren't charging $21 a bottle you're ahead of the game.

Good ideas guys . Initially you know i submerged the the links in the pinta . Maybe thats what you did also Marc . Lat night i more or less did what you guys suggested with the tooth brush ideas ........i used a stiff bristled 1/4 " wide bush and got 90 % of the bare metal areas to darken . Still some small areas that refuse to darken no matter how much i work on them . So i used flat black enamel on a small brush . I,ve got the run of tracks looking really good now .........but there is another problem with the tracks that has been brought to my attention and i have not yet decided how to move forward on the assembly of the second set .
Keep tuned for further "track drama "......................

At first I thought it was too bright but after applying few layers of dark washes it turns much darker so from now on I paint all of my builds in lighter tone. So it should be fine in your case?

Yup looks like dark yeller ta me...Nemo's right on this one altho there's likely a legion out there that would argue the point. Post filters and such it's not going to be the same shade anyway, no?

nice start on the paint Carl as others have said there is no real rule for paint just what your happy with for myself i use Tamiya dark yellow as a dark base then add different amounts of buff to the mix as a highlight colour also white can be added if you wanted it to be a bit brighter.

Looks good from here, bit of weathering and (if) it turns out to be the incorrect colour, you would ever know!

That's the ticket Carl...always have to think about what the color will look like 'at the end' instead of the beginning. Weathering inevitably darkens colors so lightening things up in the basecoat can help avoid it going too dark at the finish. Play around with it and go with what works for your end game!
