;DI did some fixin on the glacis .the join seam for the upper and lower hull parts runs threw the torch cut edges of the armor and some of the detail was ruined when i filled the gap with c.a. and sanded it . I glued .025 styrene rod in the corners for the weld beads . Then i softened it with more liquid plastic cement and pushed the weld detail into it with the end of a file . Next was restoring the glacis plate thicknes around the torch cuts so i applied the masking tape to cover the cuts . Then i covered it with glazing putty . When the putty cured i sanded it down to a feather edge and carefully removed the tape and re primered the glacis. I added those little fender hing brackets now . The front end of this should be good to go now . Been friuling around with friuls in the mean time . ;D

I was cruising along getting caught up in your progress looking in wonderment at the improvement and gorgeous tracks... then saw this... Damn near spit my coffee all over my monitor. ;D I think you are are little deeper into the Cheeto's than I am The stuff you used for the tracks sounds exactly the Blacken-It, right down to what the used stuff looks like. But I'll wager your stiff is cheaper.

Dicky Everyone knows that for good quality control to occur, a properly representative random sample has to be drawn for testing, which means those 23 test subjects need to come from different bags! Carl, you've taken this one to a whole new level...you've made plastic look like rolled steel!

Thanks my friends for staying with this build . ;D
Armorguy , i use Panzer gray for the primer and the "orange" is actually red primer . Nice color shift on the red primer .

Carlos, thanks for the link to that product. Gonna check it out... it is probably cheaper than other products just like Marc said.
Your JT is looking better and better every time you touch it... is it possible for you to touch your baldy head? Maybe something will come out... LOL Only kidding my friend! Looking forward to your next update!

Hey dicky , thanks for the kind comments you made . ;D Compared to the fit of a Tamiya kit this DML dont hold a candle . The glacis seam is at the same place on the Tamiya K.T. but that was a simple clean up compared to this DML kit . A couple of other places lack the good fit of a Tamiya also . Oh well , i've got 2 more of these in my stash . Maybe i should go finish the SA-2 trailer from my Trumpeter build next . The fit on the Trump zil-157 was pretty good .

I finished a run of tracks .......just one side !!!! Omg , now there is another run to do Since i used straight pins instead of the provided brass wire it was necessary to drill the pin hole in the tracks link parts larger to accomodate the straight pins . On these tracks there are roughly 360 holes to drill ! I was drilling these by hand with a bit in a pin vice .Believe me the going was slow and monotonous ! I came up with the idea of chucking the end of the pin vice in my cordless drill and the process moved along at lightning speed ! I tried using my Dremel . The lowest speed on it is stil too fast . The set of holes i attempted drilling with the bit hung up on the link and the bit snapped . Enough with that ! Besides that thing is a pain to hold steady and its vibration is irritating . Well , more holes to drill and a bag of Cheeto's is calling me ;D

Sorry you had to drill holes. I didn't have to with mine. Maybe I can find those thinner pins here for you next time you use Friuls so you can just push them in without drilling?
The result is really looking good! I have to try that product you mentioned... keep it coming buddy!

Andy thanks . Next time i get to Spokane i'll look for some thinner pins . I was looking at the assembled tracks and i see a lot of areas that need touch up , especially on the side with the tread design . The Patina does not get into all of the small recesses and leaves bare metal that i touched up with flat black . I'll get a close up pic of it so you have an idea what i'm discribing .
;D

Those tracks look sweet Mr. Carl. I'll bet those were...hmmm?... shall we say "tedious" to put together.

Thanks guys ,great having you follow along on this one ! ;D Marc , tediouse for sure Tony , thanks a lot ! When i picked these up it was the one time i didnt go into Wally's when i was in Spokane . Joe , its a mess also . All of those white metal shavings all over . Gary , the color variations just happen naturally with the Patina .........not sure why bro . But it looks good dont it . ;D Rob, well i had to find out for myself didnt i ;D .I'm happy with the results . At least they dont break apart while getting them run around the drive sprocket . Was wondering what happened to you .

Here's something i likeabout this kit . The rear idler has the offset in its arm so the track tension can be adjusted . I added a length of tubing to the idler arms pivot which gives it more surface area for stability when it sets in the mounting hole in the hall . Now when it is mounted in its hole it can be pivoted fore and aft , which will change the tension on the tracks as required to get the appropriate sag in them . And here is how much the track sag changes by rotating the idler . Us Cheeto eaters are thinkers ! ;D
