On Vallejo´s acrylic primers: I made use of their US Olive Drab primer, #73608, on an Accurate Armour T28 tank that I build for a customer last year: For this is a full resin kit I gave it a wash in a non lipid replenishing soap. This takes the grease of a kit, may it be resin or plastic. Airbrushing the Vallejo primer I had no lifting or imperfections, indeed this stuff was rather tough once dry. Maybe I simply had some luck here?!?

I think the main issue with the primer was user error. With this type of kit, I don't usually wash them at any point during the build. It's kind of a bad habit, but for something I'm basically building for fun it won't matter much. There are areas where the primer stayed on perfectly, other areas where I could remove it with just my finger lightly rubbing on it. So there must have been mold release still on the plastic. For the pigment, I've used the Vallejo Matte and I used to use Flat Future. The flat Future was a pain to make, Future mixed with Tamiya flat base. If you put to much flat base in it would turn yellow. Not enough you would get varying glossiness. The flat base is so thick it was hard to get a good idea of how much there was. Also, if your going to try this, use the under side of the armor or a test piece to get your colors down. I almost always test the colors with the matte on the bottom of the hulls- T-24 Merkava 4 I do this with pigments and oil mixes. This is the kit I originally started this on- The one in the back, it's called the Briegel. I built it several years ago. Long story short, I hated all the stuff that goes along with using pigment. So one day I decided to just flat coat it and see what would happen. Mig's Standard Rust pigment is kind of bright orange. Spraying the flat Future on toned down the pigment to what you see in the picture. One day I started using the idea with dirt pigments. I tried other things, enamel and acrylic thinners, didn't really work the way I wanted. I switched from Future to Vallejo because mixing Vallejo and water is A TON easier then making flat Future.

It's actually from a guy in Italy named Luca Zampriolo. He scratchbuilt the original Briegel. The one in the picture is from the first set of copies he made years ago. His website is kallamity.com, where you can see more pics of my Briegel and others. I don't see anything on IndustriaMechanika.com about the Briegel, which is disappointing to me. I'm very much looking for another B. For a while I was trying to get Luca to make another run of them. I have a GREAT idea for one!

They are out of stock right now, which sucks! I think he has been too busy lately to make another run. Keep checking though, sometimes he makes them without telling anyone. Update- Working on the other things I'm doing now, this kinda slid to the side. It's mostly done- The last step in weathering was to spray a little flat earth and buff on the lower parts, around the running gears, tracks. This piture is taken with the flash, so the colors are popping out more then they actually do. All I have left is to finish the 2 stowage pieces and it will be done.

Now that looks very nice, I like that old soviet stuff it was amazing how a country that was basically nonexistent in 1930 held evry citizens feet to the fire and turned out thousands of different vehicles for waging war. And were able to make a couple of lucky moves with the Christie Chassis and a diesel aircraft engine stolen from the Italians beat an enemy the way they did.
