Well for my big 7K post here I thought I'd start a thread on one of the shelf queens I have, the Dragon Nashorn. The model was started some time ago, maybe two years, and I thought I'd work on it while other things dry. Some of the interior stuff and barrel are either cleaned or glued together so time is saved there. I decided not to use the PE set I had gotten and just go with kit parts since they aren't too bad. Wheels were already done which will save me time. I haven't decided on how to paint this one but two options are: 1. Eastern front with two tone camo and faded WW with lots of dirt and mud....late winter/Spring. or 2. italian front with two tone camo of wavy or squiggly lines. Updates will be slow on this one....or....quick like the Tiggy just to get her done.

That's how I ended up with that massive pile of shelf queens - "working on this while other things dry"!

Glad to hear I have some followers on this build. I had built I think one or two of these in the past and they were fun. Tony I also built two of the Hummel, nice kits as well.
Might just go with Italian front and save the winterketten for the IV ausf G or H.

Thanks fellas. Not much time for the bench but when I do I will finish off the gun and mount. It was started and just needs the fiddly bits like the gunners seat, hand wheels etc. I know why I shelved this baby....too many damn ejector pin marks had to be filled and sanded, especially on the rear upper plate and sides. They were filled and sanded but now I have to replace some bolt heads.Guess I didn't feel like doing it then.
I think the winter scheme will be cool, especially weathering the huge side armor plates.

Just a pic pr two of the gun as I left it back then. Will get the fiddly stuff added at some point soon, then onto the rest of the fighting comp. Forgot to mention that the instructions for this model is the older style using a build up model instead of line drawings like they use now.

Trust me you will not regret going for winter scheme. Gun looking good! That's why I had to get rid of older Nashorn kit #6001 after I bought a better kit at recent show for a good price.

wow ...thanks fellas, didn't expect this much interest in this one...you do know it's OOTB right ? ok just a couple of pics for you. I added some quick and easy parts since time is a great issue with me at the moment. I also got the gun almost finished. Gun is just test fitted in the pics.

Looking good there boss! Not sure if you're aware of it on this particular kit or not but the fit/alignment of the front gun shield panels has to be just so for everything to play nice with each other and makes painting a real pain to deal with as a result. You're getting close to that stage so thought I should provide a little early warning just in case!
