It's 3am here in Sin City and I'm wide awake. No worries as I go back to work tonight. Time for some more work on the Sherman.
Thanks for all the comments guys.
Andy I went back to nights and now sleep like a baby. I believe it's because of less stress.
As far as the build is concernedI really want to journey down a different path with this one. Tank Art Vol. 2 has been the buiuld bible on this to a certain extent. Wonderful book.

Ok it seems like early in the morning is a good time for me. The effect is subtle but you can make out the dark base coat where I rubbed off the lghter layers of paint. It glossed up quite a bit so I will spritz a bit of dullcoat on this as the last thing. The decals are from a Bison sheet of Iwo Jima Shermans which included this tank from Chosin Resovoir in 1950. Thoughts, comments critique welcome as this is new territory for me. Thanks Mike Rinaldi G

Excellent, G. I love the rough cast turret, your job made it look heavy and sturdy I noticed you didn't paint the tools in OD, was it common or is it an artistic choice?

Totally artistic on the tools Luigi.
I like the added color and diversion painting them this way.
Thanks for all the comments folks. Again I think that turret exceeded all my expectations.
Now if I can just do it again.......

I like them too, G I was asking as I have to paint the ones for my brit shermie, and I'm thinking of mixing OD weathered tools with "traditional" color ones like yours.

Thank You brother Dicky! Here's where we are as of this evening. I used some MM enamel "Afrika Braun" thinned outand daubed on for the dust. I took some MM enamel "Marine Green" and added some black oil paint. I dabbed this on and quickly pulled it into streaks with a wide flat brush. The dozer blade is MM enamel "Jet Exhaust" and "Anodonic Dark Gray" drybrushed over my base. I am pushing my comfort zone to the limit with new techniques here, so any suggestions would be appreciated. G

The dust looks perfect. And I can't tell where you have the dark streaks (on the turret?) and that's a good thing, it means its subtle . The streaking in general looks very natural. Great work. Way to push yourself and develop new skills. You're nailing it:) The model really looks great!

Keep this one headed where you're going G! It's looking good, like the dozer blade in particular. If you're not pushing the envelope then you're settling! Never settle!

Thank you all for the continued support during this build. When you are trying out new techniques you don't know if they are successful. That's why good honest comment and critique are so important.
Nate they are subtle! But then again like you said it's a good thing.

Ok, well one phone call and I'm back on nights for another two weeks. I cannot complain my Deputy Chief called to ask if I would stay there longer as he needed the help of the senior staff. When he asked nicely I went ahead and volunteered, again. Anyway, I'm working on crew as we speak. I found some of Tamiya's figures sold seperately at an IPMS show in Phoenix last year. I picked them up for cheap and wasn't disappointed. These can be painted as Marines with little diffuculty. Here's the TC with an extremely casual attidude that I just love. I added the .45 as he has a cartridge belt and no pistol. Here's another version of "Happy Face the Driver". I'm wondering if that guy is an inside joke or something. So far so good, I have another I might add sitting in the bow gunners open hatch. G
