Hello Mac, I decided to come up for air out of the AC forum and trundle through the armor forum. Glad I did! After getting all caught up on this build, viewing the pics in amazement and taking notes on the SBS…Bravo! Well done indeed good sir.

It's incredible how many layers you use. And each one has a visible impact on the final result. Really great

Well it blanked at Euro I know it was close for a medal, but to many little imperfections, I got a good debrief from 2 of the judges. My streaks were to uniformal and same colour I need to add more light and dark stains to the engine deck The Green needs to be a little lighter The Dirt needs to have more tones on the running gear The blue on the light was a little messy and my scratches on the fenders were to simple.
They liked the cam paten loose tools decals overall presentation. So what now ? I shall try to amend the faults do a then and now photo for you guys and then use it in a Diorama if I don't mess it up. I thought some of you may be interested in how fine the judges go.
My Jagdtiger was to light, but got a commended last 3 years I have blanked in AFV so at least I got one on the board and I am chuffed with that. So I shall now ponder long and hard for the next one I shall build. It was also great to see the top 2 golds in the class go to modern Vehicles.

I don't mind that the level is high at show, but personally, some of those things which the judges mentioned are just silly in my opinion... Quite sure that on different other show, both in the UK, Europe, heck, in the whole world, it would have scored some decent gongs Cheers

Thanks guys, but I admire the judge concerned greatly and valued his time and comments and having just done the green he was right they both said at other shows it would do well but up against the best in the world you cant make errors. Take a look at Lesters T55 that was amazing his weathering was perfection in scale mine was in places in others it was not so good. But presentation was on point which normally for me is poor I spent the extra on name it and bases made by Rob Kingston. Some top name modellers did not do so well from Holland, England and Germany. I hope after the improvements you will agree. I always ask on the Sunday were did I go wrong......................one day it will go right as it did for Andy aka The Golden Child he got everything just right.

WOW! Like you said earlier the show is very competitive. That KT is one of the best I have seen so far and it is a winner to my eyes. Believe me often I say to myself 'DAMN! I wish I am as good as that bastard Mac!'. And I am always grateful having you here so I can continue to follow your builds and learn from you.

It's great to hear that they provide feedback at least so you know what to aim for the next time around. Still a fine piece of work Mac and one to be proud of even if it didn't bring home anything this time around.

Dirt being the word this week Carl I have spent days on the running gear on the Tiger building up the colours. . DSC08322 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .I have done the fresh metal ware on the tracks with a pencil the tracks have dried mud as the vehicle has been stationary for a few hours. This will fit in with the Diorama next year. . DSC08323 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. Heres the figure in its planned resting spot. . DSC08329 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .Heres some better pictures of the whole vehicle. . DSC08325 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. . DSC08321 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. . DSC08326 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. . DSC08327 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .Well hope you like it almost done on this big update on the Jagdtiger Diorama tomorrow. Mac Mac , Its admirable how well you are taking this . Of course I wasn't there to see the other entries to compare them to yours but when I went back and looked at the above pics I see a great looking model with excellent weathering through out . The figure is top notch and adds to the overall feel .I don't understand the critique about the shade of green . ? Yours is one of the few builds that I have saved as a reference picture !

Mac, I love the look of your model. Can't see what is wrong with the green. The point with the judges is that there is always the personal taste, that can't be ruled out. Generally speaking I appreciate the work of the judges, I wouldn't want to be a judge myself! But there have been many occasions where I would disagree with their decisions, and models won which I didn't like so much at all. Take my Steyr truck. The judges complained about the weathering of the exhaust, the painting of the blanket and that the small Glysantin container is lacking spills. I can tell you the look of the exhaust was meant to be like that in every single way (not too old), the blanket has lights and shadows and also stitching on it (hell it's just a blanket) and I have heard that, first, sometimes cans do not leak, especially when new and second, Glysantin in it's undiluted form is way too thick for spills (my brother is a chemist). So the last two years I ceased to take it serious! The important point is to like your model yourself. Cheers, Tobi

I agree Tobi its very much taste on the day,but if you put it up for inspection some times its not a good return yet like in our cases only small things but none the less did not please some one on the day.
Carl thanks for the support I hope to show the difference soon it was a disappointment ,but I hope to Diorama it and with the improvements do better.
.Bill I thought the feed back would help others understand the pit falls.
.Thanks Phill I know you followed this for a long time thanks for the Phill gongs.
Andy cheers mate fear not I will be around a while longer

I wanted to comment immediately, but something stopped me.
I don't agree with the judges, but they have seen it in the flesh, I only saw it in pics. Anyway I don't see that giant edge between yours and the winning T-55, except for the unusual setup of the T-55. I think the Coke fridge and the chair added visual appeal. I have been taught that humans can be easily fooled by the first impression and the first impression of yours is surely that it's something already seen. This, IMHO, leads the judges to be far more critic and to examine it much more in depth.
I'm not saying that the winner didn't deserve it, but that yours was, IMHO, as good as theirs. At least from what I can get from the pics I've seen.

The winner definitely deserved the win Luigi, it was stunning. Sad thing is i think Macs KT was worthy of no less than Bronze or higher. Seeing it in the flesh it was superb and a camo very hard to pull off. I saw some stuff inferior to Macs rate well but then again i saw some superb stuff not rate either. In my honest opinion i prefered Macs KT over his JT any day. But that boils down to personal preference. I thought his Brumbar was painted to perfection also. I wish i was judging them. His day will come and it wont be long looking at his talent.

Rgs Mac Couple of things i don't get here mate, now first off i've never been to a show as big as this but i do understand the strict judging criteria and also the very high standards of all you competitors but when they said the "green needs to be a little lighter" what are they basing that on? What is the benchmark so to speak that they are using? Also more tones with the dirt on the running gear? What do they mean by that? Dirt on any vehicle must be one of the most random things their is, again i don't see something saying "dirt should be like this!" One other thing, how can a scratch be described as too simple? You can either lightly scuff your car off a wall or completely trash it into one, you see what i mean? Just curious tbh my man. Amazing work on the KT though, absolute masterpiece IMHO!
