Agreed, looking very good indeed Paul - have yer thought about yer camo painting yet? If it's any help I have replicated that diamond pattern before using sections of the mesh bags onions and similar are sold in, taped in place over (in this case) a white base coat. Then by overspraying the mesh masked area with Black/Dark Grey the white diamonds are recreated. Because the mesh is effcetively the same as recreating soft edge camo a very realistic faded look can be achieved HTH DickyF
I had never followed this thread before because it was not to active while I have been with this site but it is a vehicle that I like and started following down the thread and it seems to stop about mid May and then all of a sudden you and dogfish jump in with posts about what sounds like some current work. Am I missing something here and just don't see this new stuff?

Another update...imagine that more than one update in the same day! First camo coat... Messed up a little on the front but no biggie since the next coat is green. Some more mud affects... Nrxt coat: Since the 2 colors are so different,I had some overspray on the earth tone....I will re-spray that. I still need some touch ups here and there, the bottom is sprayed and has the mud affect as well. The wheels just need a coat on the back sides, they are all just Green...BTW, I went with very subtle mud affect on the wheels. I'm not too concerned with the camo since it will all be weathered in the end... Paul

And all of a sudden while I am typing the above appears as if by magic, that's what I have to call psychic Dicky you really are a sensitive guy feeling that post on its way.
Your work is outstanding pt109, I have studied Soviet tanks from the Great Patriotic War but certainly missed this one, good job.

There's a photo in the beginning post showing the pattern....bottom vehicle with the Green/Earth camo. (I'm too lazy to scan it again...) Paul

Couldn't help but notice, what a tight squeeze it must have been for 2 guys in there. Yup but I think the Soviets had a height restriction on the T-34 crews so they could "Squeeze" in there...

Lookin' good! Something about those old Tamiya T34s, they make a good basis for so many projects. Got a couple languishing on the shelf myself. I bet my boss/helper's every bit as big as yours.....

Bones, I'll have another update tonight so I'll make sure I take some photos of the mud affects and I re-shot the earth camo to cover some obvious overspray. Not really a better way just a different approach...

The proof in this pudding is going to be the finish coat, right now it appears as the vehicle ran through the mud on its way to the paint booth which certianly would be a different look.

I did a small update tonight but not really worth a photo since it only involved putting a steel coat on the edge of all the steel wheels including the Idlers and sprockets, will have to cure a few days...I used Humbrol Polished Steel, and wow what an affect but it stinks, dries very fast as well! Will post a few photos once it dries good. I have to limit the amount of Enamel I use since I once had an allergic reaction to enamel thinner..... I broke out in hives....ugly! Been ok for a long time though... Paul

Wow Paul, pays to be careful! Lots of the stuff we use can be toxic/dangerous even though it's for hobby use. The Humbrol paint is lacquer-based so make sure you use it with good ventilation! Looking forward to seeing more progress on this baby.

I use Model Master "Steel" for exposed steel because it gives what my eyes see as the best color. I normally don't use Model Master because of their 1/2 OZ bottles but Steel and Gloss Black seem to be my preference for those colors. I have been fortunate for most of my life to only be allergic too ethyl alcohol and poison oak occasionally, not all the time.

Looking forward to seeing more progress on this baby. From the Humbrol paint charts they make only two types of paint, Acrylic and Enamel, the Enamel is thinned and cleaned with Enamel Thinner. That's not to say that Lacquer Thinner will not clean Enamel as it will also clean Acrylic Paints but it is not the manufacturers recommended product. And when we choose to not follow the manufacturers recommendations we have to expect that we may encounter some unintended consequences that are less than ideal.

Sorry for the long delay, not much modeling lately...just a couple of teaser pics to show I recently worked on it! Decals are on! (from a couple Lindberg T-55 and DML SU-85M kits) The number is totally fictitious for the Flamethrower version but I do know the numbers at least go to 116 as seen in a pic I have of these 30th Guards tank Div. units... Did some lower hull weathering as well, more to follow and need to finish the wheels. Getting there slooooooly...Paul More weathering to follow as the color's not quite right to me....no weathering on the top yet...
