I think we all know you can pull it off Leon, but at the end of the day,it's what YOU'RE happy with,eh? ;)The guys here, who 'DO' armour, can help you far more than I can,re the techniques to use at this scale, but I have seen 'dirty' armour in the flesh,so to speak,as have many others here....and we all want to help, where we can,eh?

I use that method Leon and although Debs looks at her brush a bit funny some nights I'm sure she hasn't caught on......... Leon, Chris and DickyF
I have always used that method to some degree, I use tooth brushes, not my wife's who could tell by the sound when I flicked the bristles, and I use stencil brushes. I like the stencil brushes best but I did make a mistake on my Polish Armored car. I picked up my largest stencil brush and was using some mud on the edge of it and flicking the brush with my thumb and got a phone call. Should have stopped and put the brush in some water and did the phone call but I didn't and was distracted by the call loaded the brush and flicked my thumb across the whole big brush and shot way to much mud on one side of the vehicle. Don't get distracted would be good advice, multi tasking is for computer nerds not model detailers.

Evening all, tried something different on applying the mudification.I used a stiff brush and did a stipple effect.I also removed the mud from the tires and added a little more mud to the wheels.I think this is looking better.I am not trying to copy the photo exactly as it looks. As always ACW CHEERS

Definitely looking better after the adjustments Leon! If you want to make some further adjustments, use a dry q-tip and rub it gently over the 'exposed' areas, it will carry over a little bit of the pigment there in a fine layer and make it look like it's dirty but not fully covered. Rub heavier with the q-tip and you can also thin out some of the more-built up areas if you want to as well.

Hey Brother Leon! Bill gave great advise right there. Q-tipping off a bit of excess dirt on your contact pads on the tracks would lend itself nicely to the appearance as well IMO. Id add a bit more "Dirty" on the lower front too as i can see clean areas on the hull near the tracks. Your headed in the right direction Leon! Gary

It's coming to live! Lot's of good tips already here for further adjustments.
Only suggestion I can contribute is a filter over the complete model (5% color/95% thinner) to get a more homogenous appearance. The contrast between hull and turret is a bit too stark at the moment, when compared to the original. The brush should be only moist and unlike a wash the details are not soaked with the mix. It's better to do 3-5 thin filters, than trying to achieve a result with only one.
Cheers, Tobi

That ties turret and hull visually together. You could also add some streaks from the bigger mud splatters to add even more interest.
Weathering is the stage with the most fun in it and no one can decide when it is enough except you.
Cheers, Tobi
