Tony, this one's moving pretty fast by comparison to some of my other projects in the past few months, this one's likely to get done under the 2 month mark! Take whatever train you need to my friend, just remember which station it departs from! Bruce, thank you sir! Glad you like the results so far.

Carl, thanks as always for the comments! T, I'm in better shape than the Duchess of Cambridge judging by the news reports this morning! Nate, thanks for the expository exclamations! Andy, glad you kept to the schedule and weren't disappointed. No surprises planned for this week although I am switching internet service providers on Thursday so fingers crossed! As for football season, it's getting closer, can't wait for this year's season, going to be very interesting!

Thanks Dicky! Yes, I've tried working with bases/dios in the past, even have a couple of them still kicking around...the biggest involved a BR52 locomotive pulling a Pz IV E on a flat car with a 2nd low-sided car behind it with a Flak 38 in transport (not deployed for AA use). It's not something that I ever really got the desire to do for my builds, it didn't 'take' I guess although I admire the beautiful dio/base work that others do for sure. I think the main reason was the added storage/display space needed for them. Finished builds go into a wall-mounted acrylic case and their dimensions don't allow much extra room. I'm pleased to hear that you think they would be right at home on them though as I do try to create an element of 'in-use' in the looks even though they aren't on bases.

I was wondering about the use of a couple of generic temporary bases for final photos - muddy field, street sceene, desert scape yer know? Hmmm, now there's an idea. Maybe I'll have to con Andy into doing something for me.

Just to head-off things in advance, there will not be the 'regular' Sunday update to this project. There's been a massive influx of users (a good thing!) to the MHI system (150+ in the last week) and I've been fielding dozens of requests for new stuff to get added in as a result. That combined with the fact that I had to do the regular maintenance work on my 200 gal fish tank, the routine yard work, yadda yadda yadda...means no bench time this weekend, so the Marder will have to keep for another week before I can keep it moving forward. My apologies to the regular viewers for this delay.

No worries Bill.Home life first, modeling when you can. Very true Leon! Just didn't want Andy to be disappointed. Carl, yes 200 gal is pretty good size. It's home to 3 Koi and a spotted catfish so they don't get it too dirty but it does have to be maintained on a regular basis or it can get nasty!

Looking good Bill. I still dig that camo brother. I like the faded look to it and that it's not too dark, great for weathering. Got my pc issue fixed btw, back among the living now..lol

Rob, glad to hear you've got the PC issues resolved, always sucks when you have to 'go dark' unexpectedly! Glad you like where this one's headed. Tey must be some big fish Bill . Carl, they are...the biggest is about 20" long, the other two are about 14" and still growing!

Felt good to get back to work on this project over the weekend and make some more progress with it. After the last two weekends had me running like crazy due to the influx of new MHI users, this weekend was more 'normal'! This round of effort focused on the weathering with the first step involving the application of an overall wash of thinned MM enamel Raw Umber with a round 000 sable brush. This step inevitably darkens the finish but it's meant as a foundation step only for what's to come. That next step in the process is the application of dot filters. Using small pointed brushes, dots of MM enamel Flat White, Raw Sienna, and the 50/50 Light Gray/Panzer DY mix used earlier were applied to small sections of the vehicle at a time. Using a square-tip blender brush lightly dampened with thinner and repeated strokes, the dots are blended together until they virtually disappear, creating a filter and streaking effect in the process. Because the enamel paints will start to dry fairly quickly, it's necessary to work in small sections at a time and plan the directionality as you move around the vehicle. Lots of thinner is involved, so I wear a breather mask throughout the process, and after a couple of hours, the process is complete. I let that sit overnight and then went to work on a pin wash using MM enamel Burnt Umber. The Bronco kit has some very nicely molded fine details like the slotted screws on the fighting compartment exterior that I wanted to accentuate, so a 10/0 pointed brush was used to pick them out with the pin wash. Excess wash was cleaned up using the same pointed brush and clean thinner where needed. This will also get a chance to sit for a little bit so I can come back to it with fresh eyes and make any necessary adjustments before the flat coat will be applied and the pigment weathering process begin.
