Finished my Rolls today will post pictures soon. Next on the list is to finish my Vickers Mark VIc on which I got the paint pattern wrong but it still looks OK to the uneducated so I will finish it before I start the next build which is going to be a Quad and 25 Pndr to tow. I am going to avoid the building of two at a time so the Quad will be finished first followed by the 25pndr. Thanks to Luigi I have some excellent pictures of a 25 pndr but I lack any walk a-rounds on the Quad and need some references for paint on the interior so if anyone has enlightening reference stuff on the interior I would be much appreciative.

Unfortunately I haven't yet seen any Quad other than in pics and videos. I will surely follow your build, as the Quad is one of my fav british softskins Not to mention the 25 Pndr, as you can easily imagine that I like it

Count me in! I better hurry and build something from Rommel's side such as a Pz III or even a IV!

Hi, You might find these walkarounds useful, lots of CMP soft skins. Not the specific model you are building but as a colour ref it should help. CMP walk aroundsHTH Tony Edit, I was wrong! Ford FAT on page 4. Check out the artillery pages as well!

Nice photos Tony....
Bones,
I have this kit as another of my shelf queens....the Quad is not too bad, a little clunky in plastic but overall looks the part, however, the Tamiya 25 lber is not a bad one either but I had an issue with the gun barrel not being straight, so that was a pain trying to straighten it. I added quite a lot of extra details to all three since they are quite lacking especially the gun sight, but that just depends on what you want.
I see you're building the Bronco 25 lber...that should make a nicer kit.
Good luck!
I'll see if I have some ref pics I had when I built mine...

Tony Thunder
Thank you for the great link for the British vehicles, lots of information there.
Andy
Don't be coming up with something that will blow me away before I get started.
Luigi
When I saw a review on the 25 PNDR and how it was far above the Tamiya that was what got me started.
Paul
I am guilty of not making the Subject clear on the gun, it is a 17/25 PNDR Pheasant but I do not see a way to edit that. I also think it is the better choice.
This is the "Tentative" direction for the build at present.

I'm not sure who ER or G are but the one by Armorguy is certainly outstanding but not being a runner the seats are the only thing in common for this one. He has set a standard that I will be hard put to compete with but I can still try.

Not a problem Bones, I actually noticed the difference on the box art work.
So, the Pheasant is the 17 lber with the 25lber chassis right?
Is there a crew with the gun?

That's right on the 17/25 but unfortunately no crew, I don't usually do to many figures because its not something I like to do. I generally do a figure if one is needed for the kit to look right but mostly an occasional one for my display case so viewers can get a scale relationship. There is a driver for the CMP FAT 12 and I may do it though I was thinking doors open so we will see.

Were almost ready to go, I took pictures of the sprues today but its a little early to start just yet. I also ran into another problem, the picture I was intending to use as the basis for this combo makes my equipment wrong if I were to follow it. I was told today the the vehicle pictured is a Morris and that the Pheasant might not have ever been pulled by a CMP FAT 12. Some of my printed reference states that the Ford CMP being 10 HP bigger than the Chevrolet and the Chevrolet being 15 HP bigger than the Morris made the Ford CMP the preferred towing vehicle but I just done know. I am going to have to re-think this now, maybe Smudge will come by and impart some of his excellent knowledge on the subject.
Any of our own experts know what the "Y" in the circle on the back of the tractor symbolizes?

On the back of the Quad above is a"Y" in a circle this next is a "Y" patch for the 5th Infantry Divison which used the mark on the Quad as their identity (so I'm told).

A picture of the 9th Australian showing a CMP FAT 12 towing a 25 pndr with a limber may have to consider a switch or added gun.

The styrene is almost the right color OOB but we will paint it anyway, not to many parts.

Bones,
10 hp doesn't sound like a lot...I wouldn't worry too much about the exact vehicle, expediancy may count for something? If the Quad Chevy can tow the 25lber, it can tow the 17....just my 2 cents...
Also, beware of the mold seams on the leaf springs, they're pretty big, unless this is of no concern to you?

Thank you for the advice, I do so dislike how the leaf springs are done always having lots of clean up. I would like to have the right vehicle paired with the proper gun if possible but if not I'm not married to it. This CMP is a Ford but that is not important at this point I may just pretend the Quad I have is the one in the pictures and go on from there, I have a few days before I will be beyond the point for no return.

Hi Mr Tea
I only have three photos of the Pheasant in tow...the one you posted and two others which show the Pheasant being pulled by 4x4 forward control 4 tonners (GS trucks). I haven't my references handy but IIRC I'm sure one is a Bedford QLD and the other maybe a Bedford or a Fordson. The Pheasant was a stop gap weapon likewise the tractor I reckon. In your picture check out the front vehicle this looks like a GS truck like the Bedford QLD.
When I get back to work in two weeks I'll check my FAT references. The Y in a khaki circle was indeed the 5th Infantry Div. By the time the Pheasant was introduced they would have been in Italy I think.
I only have photos of a Morris FAT interior...if they help I can post them but again when I get back from sunny Ibiza

Today in a surfing expedition I got a picture of the inside of a Ford Quad and two of the instrument panel early and late which I will post from my other computer tomorrow for you if you want it for you files.

Here is some recent work on the CMP and I hope I don't duplicate any pictures. Photo Bucket does not have an easy way to keep track of your postings other than to remember and I have difficulty with that. First thing to deal with is cleaning up the parts that for this kit require considerable cleanup.

Some are fill in pin marks and some are standing proud, I prefer the proud marks in tight places as I can use my frisket knife that I keep very sharp to scrape then flush.
Here is a pic showing green putty filling the sunken marks and the spots to clean up on the floor.

Pic of flash on the diferntials and axles, first one is fuzzy but the second one gives a clear picture of the flash.
