Looks like no easy task to mo e these cannons around. That certainly is an interesting arrangement that they came up with for traversing the gun. That big wheel thing folds up under the trails when being moved but still looks very awkward to me.

Chris & Sniper Smudge
Thanks for stopping by and the nice words, the kit is a great looking kit when built just from the fine detail of the kit maker, I'm only taking credit for almost putting it together per the instructions. Like most real men I don't always follow instruction or ask for directions.

Chris
Technically what you say if right but making a good looking kit from the Bronco Pheasant kit is yards easier than making a kit like the RPM Polish Armored Car look good but I appreciate your faith in my contribution to the finish.

The Bone Yard is currently moving on an M18 Hellcat. My next new build is a Trumpy Stalinetz with an LZ engine and it is underway with the Styrene portion about 85% and the opening of the resin kit today. There is some really beautiful stuff in both of these kits if you don't mind fiddly but the detail is right up there.

Nice work on the Pheasant Bones! I suppose that awkward platform design was the trade-off for allowing 360 degree rotation once the gun was emplaced, definitely an advantage to have in the world of towed AT guns vs. the standard split trail design.

I have never seen anything like it except for the Pheasant and 25 Pounder, I must assume that traversing with a 6 man crew was reasonably quick and for Desert warfare where the enemy can be coming at you from any direction being able to do a fast traverse would certainly be a biggie.

Hi Mr Bones Looking great a really splendid job. How do you rate the kit, the Pheasant, I might have a go myself? It turned out really well. I saw the 25Pdr in action this weekend… The turntable was easy to use and once in place meant the crew could turn the gun by hand to face new threats or engage targets in different directions more quickly. I saw it in use and it takes seconds to deploy… (1) FAT approaches so gun points in direction of targets and stops, (2) Crew debus and drop turntable then (3) the FAT pulls gun onto turntable. The crew unhitch the gun, and limber, and move limber by hand into position so ammo is readily available (that looked hard work though). The FAT then moved to the ‘wagon lines’ until needed, away from the gun. It didn’t remain with the gun apparently. The carriage of the Pheasant is that of the 25pdr so the turntable system is also the same. Simples. Smudge PS...even firing blanks it's a noisey bugger

Fantastic information on how it works, it is a rather unique design but ranging would be important in the desert and what you describe would seem to make it easy. I would imagine that the 17 pounder at 3000 fps would also get a thunderous send off.
The Bronco Pheasant Kit is my estimation has to be one of the top detail kits on the market, every thing fits real nice and while fiddly parts are there it did not seem difficult to assemble. In one place I did not follow the directions and left the wheel, the gun wheels and tie rod off to last for painting reasons. There is one PE part P9 that was too flimsy to do. I could never figure out where part B54 went either. A pin part B76 is too short but it is of limited consequence in any event. The rope on the front shield is not quiet right I would replace it with crochet thread if I did it again. I would give it a Very Highly Recommend if you are into British artillery pieces, I will definitely be doing a 25 pounder.

Have missed your comments I suppose too summer activities, it is a great kit for the builder who like detail, one of the best I have ever built.

Bones, it's not you, it's me that's having so little time to log in and lots of issues when I do it... The 25 pdr gun is a kit I'm considering to buy next time I'll be in London. That way I'll get some more ref pics and will be able to build IWM's one

It will be a great one if the Pheasant is an indicator.

Thank you for looking and the nice comment, the M18 is long finished and going to an IPMS show on the 22nd which I will be taking an Andy and leaving for on Wednesday and will be gone for a couple of weeks so don't finish the Zis before I get back. I will probably finish the M18 posts tonight.
