Here's a different slant on rail modelling. I've done 3 BR52 kits with different rusty or damaged finishes. some of you guys will have seen these before. Bill

oooooh that is sweet. Had always wanted to do one like that. The destruction looks accurate and very realistic. The rust and burnt areas are top notch.........damn this looks bloody fantastic.

Thanks for the comments guys. Chrisb the hellcat is sitting waiting for some inspiration i'm afraid! I cannot get fired up to put it back on the bench. This model was inspired by a wartime photo I came across. I built it and then found a photo of the same wreck but from the other side which was also badly damaged so if I'd waited a while I could have had twice the fun!!!

How did you warp and bend the plastic, or is it thin metal material.

Thanks for the interest guys.
Tiking, I used an etched kit for some of the parts but the boiler covering is the kit part thinned with a sanding drum. Once the kit plastic is thinned it can be carefully bent and buckled by hand. It behaves differently to plastic card which is too soft.
the boiler itself is a cardboard core from a paper hand towel
