Hi guys, I'm finding that my water based Vallejo matt varnishes that I apply through my airbrush doesn't give a 'flat' enough finish? I bought some 'Testors 1260 Clear Coat Dullcote' spray Lacquer. An internet search shows the can looking like this - the code is the same but my can has a slightly different coloured label: www.antenocitisworkshop.com/testors-dullcote-spray.htmlI'm sure I'm okay but can someone confirm that it's the right stuff - my can is still called '1260 Dullcote' and it's just the label that is different in colour. Cheers guys, Ben

Yep, same stuff Ben. Thanks bill - as ever you are a font of knowledge and come to my aid every time! Now, I know from previous experience using Humbrol rattlecan varnishes that this is solvent based and will be 'hot' so I need to give my Acrylics plenty of time to cure (36+ hours)? Should I find that this will give a better flat finish than my current airbrushable Vallejo matte varnishes? Anything else I need to know? Cheers, Ben

I would assume so Ben. I've never used acrylics myself but it's always a good idea to let your paint work thoroughly cure before sealing as a routine matter regardless. I can't say how it will compare to Vallejo Matte, you'll just have to give it a whirl and see how it comes out! Personally I prefer to use the Model Master Lusterless (flat) as it's a true flat coat (and I mean dead flat), it's sold under the item number 1960. You may find that the 1260 has a slight satin sheen to it depending...I haven't used it myself in years so can't say how the current version would turn out.

I bought several cans at a show that were probably close outs and the labels were black but its the same stuff.
