EDIT
THOR's Hammer Since my PB account fills up quickly with images I will show some pics here in each update, but there will be more on my website. Those pics are easier to upload and can be viewed full size. www.scratchmod.com Many of you have guessed what this build is, yep the large 'Karl Gerat Morser'. I decided to go with the short barreled 60cm version painted in Panzer Gray. This would be before they converted to the long barrel 54cm gun, and new camo scheme. I am using the Dragon kit and replaced the long barrel with the short 60cm barrel from the Trumpeter kit I started.
I wasn't sure if I would actually have the mojo to finish this kit since there is a lot of cleaning up of the parts, many large ejection pin marks and not as detailed as the Trumpeter kit. But it's been fun so far gluing the main section together, and the little bits will come soon.

Chris, no mate, I'll be doing this in service but very dusty.
Thanks Gary. Yeah it's a big kit with lots of parts, but not as many as the Trumpy kit, and will take some time.

Huge stuff, boss. Even larger than a telescope I'll follow quite interested, such large plain surfaces are the best for a weathering master like you

Kinda feels like Sevastopol all over again.I can't imagine the effort needed to move on its own power, like moving the giant crane that we used on our wind tower erection crew.Huge undertaking to say the least.Ima gonna stay tuned...

LOL thanks fellas. I will try to get some comparison pics of the Trumpy and Dragon parts/assemblies once I go to the shed to dig out the Trumpy kit I had started. I have updated my website with this build as well as new weathering pics of the Nashorn. www.scratchmod.com

Zeke, thanks for all the info. The Trumpy kit is much better than the dragon kit I am doing. I am not worried about the inaccuracies in this kit, would be too much work to fix. I have the Trumpy kit which gets the full treatment. Your correct in the 040/041 being the hull/running gear. The gun barrel was switched on some Karl's. An example ( according to ref.) is Thor who had the 60cm changed to the 54cm after problems from testing were fixed, then they switched back to the 60cm I believe in 44. When the got their new barrels they then got the mid/late war camo schemes. before then all Karl Geraet were in Panzer Gray. Some weathering can and will be found on these beasts, but not the same as would be on a tank. Even when being railed it would get very dusty, especially in spring/summer months when earth is dry causing dust.
Should be a very fun project to paint.

Looking forward to seeing you work on this one Rob! I built one way back when they first were released and even ordered a turned aluminum barrel complete with rifling from The Barrel Store in Canada. It took a long time to clear customs (they were probably trying to figure out just what it was for! ). It's a fun little kit to play around with. The tracks are a bit of a pain in terms of clean up and because there's so many of them...but that's true with any kit with static indies depending. Enjoy the ride!

Hiya jackwagon. Good to have you checking in here mate. The Dragon kit is in gray and is missing a ton of detail. Same goes for most of the kit parts. But I figure it's an older kit and should look the part once painted.
