I see you've resorted to the traditional German method of track mounting, rubber band tension! Sorry to hear they were a pain Carl but you've whipped them into shape in the end.

Bill , I knew they would be a pain . And they still are . I had one track run fall apart while weathering it today .That's why I asked you about the MK's . thanks for looking in my friend .

Here's the surviving track run . I'll re-glue the other side back together and try again tomorrow . I tried pigments but didn't like the look or texture . I ended up going out to the garden and using some tilled up soil to make the mud mixture . I hope those tomato seeds that didn't come up this spring don't sprout now . PS. Nems , look , no bean can or banjo bands !!!

Carl my friend, this project is killer. Maybe at this moment the tracks might try to kill you, I know you'll win this battle at the end ! This tank has the nicest colors I've ever seen on a model !!!

Hello Carl, The result of the track weathering is OK but I don't know how accurate you want to built it because the Tamiya tracks lack the opening in their guide horns like here Eddy

Guy , you like the colors ? Cool !!! They are Tamiya colors that I blended with my own recipe . I wasn't sure how they would look , especially with a matt coat and weathering over them . Its very pleasing to read that you approve of the colors my friend .
Leon , glad you like the mud my friend . No fixative . There is a little clay in the soil and as long as I don't have to handle it often it is staying on .I know if I get this local mud on my boots it sure as heck wont come off !
Joe , thanks my friend !
Rob , Boss , I know you have a lot going on and its great having you stop in and having a look ! When ever I hear that phrase "holy carp" it makes me thinK about going down to the Snake river and shooting the carp fish . Them things get huge in the warm water behind the dams .By the way I wouldn't eat one , yuck .
Lui , thanks for looking at the mud works bro !
Dupes , good hearin from you bro !
Thanks again guys . I should be getting this projet finished real soon .

Eddy , I just seen your post . I was noticing that flaw in the Tamiya tracks a couple of days ago but I thought maybe I could past your noticing it . Well you caught it my friend . I'll probably let it be for know

The garden soil approach seems to have worked Carl! If you get some bonus tomatoes, it's a win-win! I can see why you would be interested in the MKs as an alternative...they also address the guide-horn deficiency that eddy points out but at a price. You have to glue the horns on individually...so that's 180-190 horns per track side!

Carl, you nailed it again with the look of your tracks. BTW, I can feel with you, I had some struggle of my own with the tracks on my Leopard 2. Fruitloops rule! Cheers, Tobi

The most realistic mud you can make is from mud IMO lol always use garden soil for mud and mess I really like the results although you are getting better results than me , top job Carl!

WOW great stuff Carl I love all the paint popping effects on the details like the jacking block or the white round the hatches. Great looking model with fantastic weathering top drills
