Tracks are done, some hooks made for the spares and all that is left are maybe some sand bags....then primer time.

WOW! The IV looks great, but the trailer is even better!
Shouldn't it have wheels, though?

I've added some sand bags to the front hull and now she's ready for primer. Been ages since I last made sand bags and the first time using Miliput.

oh yes, this is cool Rob, love the sandbags mate, sure a thing to remember pfc, makes sense, but the damage can also be due to an explosion causing ruptures of the plates but no real fire. Dunno, no doubt Rob will till ya Cheer

Thanks fellas for stopping in and for the comments.
yep the platform is the sd 116 trailer it will sit on.
Carl, it's not too bad to work with but practice using it pays off. I'm used to using craft sculpting clay for bags fo this is a bit different.
@paul- yes and no. It's not always the case where rubber wheels will burn. If the fire is contained inside the tank then no, if the floor plate blew then fuel would spill out, burning the outside including the wheels. The ref pic I have shows there was an internal explosion but no burnt wheels. keep in mind also that if there isn't much fuel in the tanks there would be just a short fire. I could have left some interior paint in tact, had planned it, but you can't see much into the tank so it would have been wasted time and effort. The exterior will get some scorching and soot.
Going to slap some primer on this now.

woohoo finally got the paint on this one after a couple of years. I ended up mixing a few colors from two different AK sets due to the colors in the DAK set being much lighter than shown on the box. The colors appear a bit darker in these pics than it actually is. Also filters will lighten and darken where needed.
Just a quick reference pic of what she is modeled after, but not exact. I ended up recently finding this image. The other three I had of this tank/trailer are more close up and from the side/rear quarter. The camo scheme may not be on this tank but I liked the color combo and went for it. Next one will be one color only and heavy chipping.

Always love a good DAK build Rob and this one combines it with a wreck too! Nice paint work on the pattern.

Thanks Bill. I love the DAK stuff so this was loooong overdue. Have a slight problem with that darker color. Seems now that it's dry it doesn't look like it went on smooth, even coverage. These paints are really thinned out of the bottle. I had given each of the colors a couple of coats and they just don't cover. I may have to go over it with the same color mix but with Tamiya or LC tomorrow.

Boss, love the camo! Now I am tempted to build a Pz II and paint it the same way... thanks a lot.
Can you come over and paint my house next week? Yes, my house is overdue for a painting job and I think my wife will like the camo too.

Leon, Wouter, Eddy and Andy, thanks fellas for the comments and glad you like the camo. It's actually much lighter than in the pics.
T, you know you want to build one bro.
Got the markings on her after redoing the dark camo. Applied one enamel matte and one acrylic matte coat to seal the decs and tone down the satin finish. No pics of that yet. Will let this dry and then start the filters and pin washes, followed by oil effects.

Every single build you make has a distincitve look, scratchmod's style. This one is no exception, it's already gorgeous. Can't imagine how good it'll turn out in the end

Dan thanks bud. Well I was not very happy with the brown camo and so I redid it with panzer gray. Not 100% happy but it will work better.

Have to agree Rob. The brown wasn't bad but the gray gives it more contrast.

Interesting switch on the camo Rob, I agree with MF, it does provide more of a visual contrast. Will be cool to see it come together under the weathering.

I think I like it better too... anything would have happened as there were no exact rules how to apply camo appropriately. This time it will offer better contrast for sure!
Quit playing around and get back to work!
