I was afraid of having problems with the kit tracks. Came home from work today to find the track split in two. It’s odd how it split right down the guide teeth. Tracks where installed on the model, and it was just sitting on the bench. I have an extra pair from another kit that gets AM tracks. If I keep having problems, I’ll get AM tracks for this one.

Wow that is an odd occurrence BJ, guess the strain was just more than they could take for whatever reason!

Is that a common problem with the Tasca kit tracks? Weird.

Yeah Bill, I’m wondering if it had a pre existing molding flaw. But it split in the section that was going around the idler wheel. Only one side broke, the other side is still usable.

Is that a common problem with the Tasca kit tracks? Weird. Dupes, never seen anything like that happen. The problems I have encountered is the application of too much cement cousing the links to melt and get too thin. This set didn't fail at a glue joint, but the portion that wraped around the idler wheel. I'll give it another shot, If it fails again, im ordering Panda plastics track for it.

What did you use for paint? Could be that it played a role in weakening it just enough to part if it had a flaw to begin with.

Hopefully it's just a bad (single) track and not a general issue then. Quite the mystery!

I just assembled Tasca's tracks and I have to say they're the best vynil tracks I've ever seen. I suppose these were failed during production or, more likely, they were stocked in a hot place making them less resistant...

Not sure Luigi, I'm wondering if I had the tension set to tight.

Not sure Luigi, I'm wondering if I had the tension set to tight. Mine were quite resistant, but I left them a little loose as they'd be hidden under the side skirts...

Hello Big John, I am sorry to hear of your friend. You and yours will be in our thoughts and hearts. It's always good to see a build resurrected and, this one has me hankering to break into one of the Shermans in the stash. Is the nose piece Formations? I've got this one marked to follow now. Dave

Dave Thanks for following, Yes, the nose piece is formations. It is the later “sharp nose”. However, in my research, I discovered that all the Mid M4A1’s in Normandy had the early cast transmission housing. This one will represent one that sustained battle damage in the Trans housing and was repaired with a later housing.

Thanks fellas,
Guy, I like Panda Plastics track better than fruils. They are easy to work with and look great when done.

I think Friuls can be a little too heavy for the M4 bogeys, they'd generate a little too sag. But I've never experienced any and my tasca sherman is the first in 35 so I can be soooo wrong

Always fan of PE for clamps and tie downs. Looking great! Ran into your friends at Indiana State Fair today. Wondered if you are planning to come. I have several free tickets if you need them.

Big John
I take it that Custom Diaoramics has died which is too bad since the tie downs are very good. Nice looking build, the strips around the edge of the hull have small holes which replicate the real thing, did you drill those out or did Tasca get them that well? Keep up the good job it really is looking nice.

Bones, Yeah, Custom Dioaramics is long gone. The PE sheet is made of copper instead of brass, so things bend real easy, almost to easy. Tasca provides molded holes on the sand sheild mounts, but I went ahead and drilled them all the way out.

With belts too soft might not have been to bad, I keep looking for straps on an individual PE fret but cant find any. Seems like one always can use a strap here and there.
