Love the markings! For some reason I like it when there are more than two colors for markings. That's why I like USMC Shermans...
Great work my friend! Didn't go to Kings Island yesterday because boys were sick. Hoping for this weekend...

BigJohn
My biggest fault is not keeping inside the lines and believe me I am an inside the lines guy so it is a constant challenge for me anymore.
I can see that you certainly have the decal gift, actually the finish gift, I love to build them but the finish is always a challenge for me and a part I really don't care for that much. The curse here is that I and my wife love the models all finished and I wish there was one of those "and then a miracle happened" and they were finished like BigJohn finishes his.

Oh now this is just sweet.
Can't wait for more of Big john's painting magic.
@t Bone, attach the tools by using a dab of glue on the mounting points only. Cut a wedge of plain white copy paper and slip it under the tool. Paint away with the paper acting as a mask for the body of the vehicle.

Thank you fellas!!!
G has a really good tip about using a piece of paper as a mask under the tools. That something I keep meaning to do, but forget when The time comes to actually paint them.

Very nice work John. I know next to nothing about Shermans, but I know a great model when I see one.
Looking forward to the next steps!

BigJohn 76
Your flat coat is excellent or better, what do you use, I have been using rattle can dull coat and it is passable but I don't think any of mine come out as smooth as yours is looking.

I use the Testors Dullkote in the bottle. I thin it a little heavier than 50/50 with lacquer thinner and spray thin light coats with the airbrush. If you don't thin it heavily and put it down wet, it will leave heavy rough grainy spots. Hope this helps buddy!

Thanks, it is the grainy spots I have been concerned about, I haven't ever shot on any lacquer having always use Acrylics since I started but it looks like I will have to change.

A little progress, the pin wash is going slow because I’m doing it on a flat coat. Lots of time spent cleaning up tide marks and such. In this photo, you can see that the center bogie has not been washed yet.

Tide marks are the bane of applying any kind of wash over a flat coat...just the nature of the surface to draw it off and let it 'bloom' instead of staying in tight like it does on a gloss or even semi-gloss coat. Making good progress BJ!
