Cheers guys, well the Mutt is now completed, the top sides have all had a light dusting of pigments and a heavy application in the foot wells and rear floor. all the extras have been added as well. Tried not to swamp the model with too much pigment as I find on smaller vehicles you can very quickly loose the base colours.

The figure arrived today and he's already undergone some major surgery! The head was cut off and I then slowly reamed out the neck area with my trusty como mini drill and bur attachment. The new marine head is a MIG item, in fact the only head with a marine forage cap I could find. The figure now needs all the insignia removed and the buttons on the pockets removed too. He should look good next to the Mutt.

thanks guys much appreciated, Nemo the MIG figure is a modern marine officer, can't tell you the item no as I don't have the packaging. Andy, the figure is a Bravo 6 item, very nice indeed on par with alpine I would say quality wise.

here's the figure in it's camo uniform, I went for a ERDL pattern as used by some marine units before the woodland pattern came out as the standard US camo of that time. All painted with vallejo colours. I just have the flesh areas to complete.

The base is a very simple affair and this will receive some tall grasses later on.

Excellent job, both the vehicle and the figure. U did capture the look of the ERTL really well and I can tell, as I have one in mint condition and with slanted(!) breast pockets in my cabinet. Also the webbing is looking great!

I have to confess, inspired by your choice I ordered one myself back when you started this, just for sentimentality. Built one 20 years ago with the same camo job and probably will do it like this again. Arrived today!

Thanks guys very pleased you like it so far. Before starting this project I must admit to having no idea about the use of camo clothing by the US forces. However after loads of research I found it was quite a complex and interesting subject. One fact that interested me was that after the limited use of camo clothing during the Vietnam war the US went back to O/D uniforms for quite some time. Only a few units actually had camo uniforms up until the introduction of woodland camo uniform.

Tobi glad I inspired you to re live your youth! I have certainly got a big buzz out of re visiting mine! and may even do it again (I have an idea to re visit tamiya's modern marder again)

Well I've finally finished the MUTT base and figure and it's all together now. The base was very simple just some static grass and grass tussocks added then it was sprayed using tamiya colours then finally some pigments from the main build where added. The figure came out really well and complements the vehicle nicely.





















now I have the mother of all clean ups to complete as the man cave is an absolute pigsty!
