Nice. Looking forward to seeing some weathering on this one. I know it can be a little alarming to start "messing up" such a clean finish... Good luck

Thanks fellas. I've started weathering with a general dark wash and I'm trying to isolate an ideal terrain. The 2nd Air Commando Group served in the Coxs Bazaar, at the Burma/India border in 1944-45, which from photos and some research appears dry, dusty and dirt/sandy airfield. I've read that these reconnaissance F-6D's were some of the dirtiest, most grungy of Ww2. I have yet to find any great pictures showing this, but I'm still looking. I'm also completing the extras for the diorama as well Pics coming soon. And let me tell ya... Painting 1/32 figures is a pain in my rear haha ;D Mike

Wow, she looks fantastic, Moose! Just a quick one mate, do you need to do any special prep with your decals when going onto Alclad/AS12 (eg Future coats) or is it smooth enough that you can decal straight onto the Alclad finish? I have never decalled on a BMF before. Cheers, Sam

Just a quick one mate, do you need to do any special prep with your decals when going onto Alclad/AS12 (eg Future coats) or is it smooth enough that you can decal straight onto the Alclad finish? I have never decalled on a BMF before. On my 1/48 F51d I didn't clear coat at all. The paint seemed fine but it does seem easier to work the decals when the base has been cleared Cheers, Sam Hey Sam, Thanks! I actually took Keith Christie's advice and shot the Alclad Aqua-gloss over the as12 (to slightly dull the appearance) and I used Alclad high gloss over the Alclad airframe aluminum (to help keep the natural finish). I'm sure there are plenty of other clears you could use but I would use them before decals are laid. I think it does help in setting them and protects the base paint from the chemicals in the setting solutions that can be harsh. Mike

Panel lines were sludged with oils and the dust and soot are Tamiya dry brush weathering applied with a damp sponge brush. I'll apply, let dry then wipe down. It'll all be cohesive with the diorama ;D Photos below are for reference... Yoy can see they were dirty Mike

I'd say you captured the look you were after pretty good. Once in the dio setting, it will have enough context to make it all tie together for sure.

Yeah Prop haha... Not sure what I'm gonna do with them barrels... Little disappointed they look that way. I'll just ditch them if I can't use them. They're made by Verlinden, everything is excellent though

Sorry fellas... I'll finally be able to get back and finish this one. Had some health issues. Seems my heart wants to start going crazy at the age of 35. I had to have an ICD installed (defibrillator). Sucks but I'm still here to harass you all! I'll be updating soon

I had 2 strokes at 25 and they pimped my ticker with a titanium umbrella at 30. I am now 35 and in the best shape of my life, cycling every day and rock climbing every chance I get! I am sure you'll still be here for many years treating us to your crisp and superb builds! This build rocks bro!
