Well I pulled the Hasagawa 1/48 George off the shelf in the garage and have been slapping some parts together. I started this model over a year ago in a GB here but then had no time or mojo for it, but now I do and want to get some paint on it soon. I'll be using this to test out a paint color mix and weathering before trying it on the KC97. Inspiration to keep this one going and for the paint and weathering is of course some of the aircraft models from Jamie Haggis. I have his blog book marked and when it's time to paint I be checking there often. Will try to get some pics up of this model soon.

Why worry, each of us is wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back.

Boss, you won't believe who was at my door today? All of your armor kits, they wanted to know if they can stay with me because I can look after them better. LOL
Count me in of course whatever you are building it will be fun!

Have to go where the mojo takes you Rob! Looking forward to seeing how this one comes out and what that translates to for the KC-97.

A bit late with the update and pics, had a long busy day, sorry. OK I got her built up and the glass masked, did I mention I hate that part... First thing to do was AB some primer on old George, and for this I used the AK Interactive gray primer. A couple of light coats and set it aside to dry. I didn't want to go with an all silver or polished metal type paint since I wanted to experiment on this before applying this to the KC. I mixed 30% Vallejo modelair Barley gray and 70% Vallejo Aluminum. This gave it a metal type color but also grayish which will be perfect for weathering. So here we have the gray metal color applied in two light coats, then the leading edge masked and painted yellow. Now this has to dry and then masked again for the green color.

Thanks Leon. The silver is actually on the model, just hard to see the difference between the primer and paint. had to give it a couple of light coats and recheck to be sure there was actually paint on it. Green will go on today, then decs.

Thanks brotha, got the green on her...um him...it. Letting it dry before the decs go on. This part was the quick easy part.

LOLOLOL....
yeah took the pics right after painting this morning. Taking advantage of the quiet time like you said..lol
Forgot to mention with that last pic of the green paint that I first sealed, applied some hairspray for chipping, then the green paint. Will see how this turns out, first time doing the HS chipping on a plane.

Well it was a productive couple of hours and the decals are now on. I did have an issue with one meatball on the fuselage. Was going to take a pic and dumb me, I grabbed the model by the fuselage without wearing a cloth glove that I had used the entire time so as not to leave finger prints in the somewhat fresh paint. Sooo a decal stuck to my thumb. It didn't lift but instead wrinkled. These decs are very thin and I managed to flatten most of it out but it does look like crap. With have to wok that area with the weathering some how. That's it for now. Will seal the decs and wait for everything to cure before I chip.

Found these in there, among others. Revell 1/32 Me 110, Monogram P61 black widow, Revell 1/72 B-17 and a few other 1/72 kits. Looks like I started the black widow waaaay back when.
