I have a key question for the Tiger enthusiasts out there as I'm working on the zim panels for the hull. Did Tiger I's have zim below the fender line on either side? I ask because I need to make a modification one way or another to the Atak panels to allow the fenders to be fitted and it's much easier to trim the panels at the fender line vs. opening up slits for the fenders to rest in. Appreciate any help before I commit to one path or the other!

Bill, I think the Zimm was applied all the way down the sides with only the fender mounting/bolt hole protruding out. Definitely need another opinion bro but thats just base on my slim knowledge of it. You'd think i was Ace's for info on my All Time Favorite Tank....however im not ...I Ludem Tiger 1's!!!

Well I think I found my answer Gary after doing some more poking around and you're right, it did extend all the way down. So some surgery is called for!

Hey Bill - you seemed to have found your answer, but I'll add a little confirmation. There are a few pictures in the Squadron "Tiger in Action" book showing the zim under the fenders.

The zimm went all the way down indeed, here in the picture the dark spot at the end of the side plate is were it was removed Eddy

Too bad they aren't Roo burgers! They are pretty tasty too T! Thanks guys for the confirmation, I'm playing around with a couple different ways to show the fenders on this one and needed that little bit of info to be sure.

Another weekend means another update! Work continued on the Tiger with attention given to the rear hull plate. The kit part received the corresponding Atak zim panels using a combination of Gator Grip glue to position them and then running liquid glue under the panels to tack down the edges and ensure the panels bonded to the part underneath. Dragon deliberately molded the hull with a slight warp in the hull tub as a design intended to allow for a snug fit with the plates. The rear plate is big enough and strong enough to force the hull sides into the proper alignment using just regular glue. Once the plate was in place the lower-most zim panel was added around the base of the tow hitch to round things out. The front of the hull however needs a little help to overcome the warp, so a piece of sprue was cut down to the necessary size and glued in place to brace the hull and help it hold its shape better. I dry-fitted the glacis plate along with the hull roof and the front plate of the fighting compartment. This not only ensured that the bracing length of sprue was providing the right level of correction, it also ensured that the brace held its position correctly while the glue set. Then I sat down to deal with the remaining 2nd track. 2 football games and 93 links later, the second one was completed. Next up will be more work on the hull side panels and other similar details.

Carl, thanks buddy! Glad to hear all is right with the world. Have to agree with you on the tracks but also glad to have them done and over with. Was hard working on them while watching the Denver-Dallas game yesterday because I kept looking up too much at all the high-scoring plays! Elco, thanks for the comments! Gary, got to love the Atak stuff, it's my go-to solution for zim every time. Vegan for a day...maybe you should bet that against when Andy will finish his Duck!
