Since we are close to Halloween, I felt it was time for this.



A new TV show explores this wonderfull story, one of my favorites, so I will use it's imagery as my inspiration.

I went back to work today so no pics as yet. This is indeed based on Tim Burton's work, which I love BTW, and I was fortunate enough to find pics of the actual costume used in the movie. Can you say "drybrushers delight"? I knew you could.

Bill, Andy gets way excited over a bottle of OD paint, goodness knows how excited he'd get over flaming pumpkins..........

Lucas there's always space at my shows! I need to find old BJ so I can build him.

Ok here we go.

The fit of the pieces in this kit is simply mind boggling-ly bad. I used a Dickyism because it's that tough. Lots of evergreen .025 rod cement to fill the horrific gaps. I then used my favorite putty, I mix Bondo automotive spot glazing putty in Testor's cement and paint that on.





I had to clip off all the locating pins, sand the halves smooth and glue the horse together 1/2 inch at a time.

This one is just challenging enough to be a lot of fun!

Question for the masses. Should I sand down the "hair" texture on the horse? I'm thinking yes, any other comment?

Depends on the scale of the horse I guess...horses do indeed have a 'coat' and since this is a fall/winter setting, the horse's coat would be a bit shaggier as a result potentially. Since it's a ghost horse I doubt it was getting regular attention with a curry comb! Up to you G. As for the putty battle, looks like you're whipping it into shape nicely. Have to admit to being slightly confused though...there's a head!

Ah yes the head, well the horseman has that in his left hand. He also has a ferking big battleaxe in his right!

I'm going to sand her down a bit because I will deviate a bit on the horse. This horse will be white. The new TV show has the headless horseman on a white horse with glowing red eyes. For some reason I find it even more sinister with colors like that.

Hehehe... That reminds me somehow of the bad-fitting Samurai from MiniArt a friend built some months ago... Same problem(s) here too. But youre on the way to make the best of the horse and the figure!

I wouldn't sand it down, btw. In all the movies and cartoons it had a furry appearance, probably because it looks scarier that way...

I love the Sleepy Hollow Legend! Love the Disney Cartoon Movie when i were a wee lad.....scared tha TAR outta me! Also love the Tim Burton Sleepy Hollow movie. Im totaly in for this bro.

I went back to work this week and probably shouldn't have done so, but I have made some progress on our friend here.



This has been a seam fillers delight. I have used more putty and primer on this guy than on my last two custom cars.



This is the cape and cowl as molded. I don't like how thick and heavy the cape is. I also don't care for the cowl. Today I will attempt to replicate these in another medium.

Dicky - I had to make a run to the auto shop for more putty, then to the hobby shop for cement. They love me when I'm on a build like this.

Leon - These next set of piccies will let you know your blessings have helped!

Paul -  The horse has been sanded and puttied. This is the way she sits in primer as of now. I am really happy with it. I left some of the texture as I could read             your mind.

Cut out what I required for the cape:



I fitted the foil over the kit piece and formed away. I used my hands at first then old paint brush handles and the like. I got to this point.



I made the collar the same way:



Fitting and trimming led me to this point:







It's in primer as of now. I like the way this turned out. Much, much lighter and more accurate in thickness.

I'm liking this much better than my Halloween project!  All that I see that's available is the already assembled and painted figurine.  I must have one of these someday. 

But I like what you're doing here, especially with the cape and all.  Much more realistic that way.

I have had this kit in the stash for years now. I saw a beautifully built one at a show once about 10 years ago. Never saw another built or in kit form ever since.
