Rail cars - 'Riding the Rails' Time for part three of the admin duel. This time T and I will be doing some rail cars, hence the title, riding the rails. I have been wanting to do a scene with rail cars for some time, but never got around to it mainly because the price of the kits were a bit high, especially on ebay. But after snatching up a couple of rail cars at the last show at an ok price, it's time for this project to begin. I (we) will not be rushing this duel as we did with the others. These involve a bit more than before when we simply build one new and one old kit. This time we both have ref images for motivation and of what we want to do. Of course since they are rail cars, it would only make sense to have a vehicle on it. We, or at least I won't go much into what I have planned since it may change as far as what will be on the rail car. Trust me, you will love what we have planned... So to kick things off, here is one of my rail cars. I will break open the box and start cleaning parts soon. Here is T's rail car, with short sides.

Thanks fellas and good to hear we'll have you riding the train on this one.
Boots Trumpeter also makes these and the heavy rail cars, but they are more expensive. I think some one makes Russian rail cars too.
Not sure when I will start mine, but it will be good to hit the bench and take a short break from admin duties.

Thanks Boyd, been wanting to build these for a very long time. Time for a quick update on my end. I wanted to show the rail car during the end of the war and well used, so I added a bit of texture and chewed up the wood planks a bit. I figure years of loading tanks and other equipment would have done some damage to the wood, not to mention mother nature. Not much to show but it took time to get it done.
