well it has been a while since an update was posted. had some issues with the white not showing very well in the pictures. with that in mind i waited and fabricated and then painted. and the results.......well not entirely happy but i will explain that in a few. first of all was the fuel tank. this is one of four tanks that is present. thanks to saul "sharkmouth" garcia and his vault of references. my rendition. and a first for me. the recievers. all 5 of them are represented as well as the dynamotors. and skipping ahead a bit, here is all of it together. now with all of that what can you possibly see? well here... all told i am not unsatisfied with the receivers and such. they look almost ok. i am however not real happy with the pipping, wiring, and such. may have to revisit that before it gets closed up. next up will be either the pit or the engine compartment. not sure just yet. comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. joe

thanks for stopping in and the kindness. although....... i do hope this means good rather than take it apart it is terrible. joe edit: btw there are over 100 "bolts" on that fuel tank. all are cut from stretched sprue. all told the only non scratched pieces are the fuse sides, the tail wheel and assembly, the pit bulkheads, and the pit flooring

I know you are your own worst critic Joe, but that tank is some nice work...it approaches resin-cast level of detail with those bolts IMHO. Keep it up!

bill thank you. i am actually very happy with the way the tank is. too bad when all is closed up no one will see it. it is hidden away.
last night i took all the pipping and cabling out and will be trying again. just could not get over the cluttered look it had.

dicky your limited experience is light years ahead of my experience.
started to get the wiring and cables down in a more organized way. added some fasteners to try to help organize.

I suppose you already got this one... I agree with Mr. Francis on both subjects. All the wires were tied together and clipped. Moving masses could affect the airplane's flight asset with foreseeable effects. Re the second subject, you have enough talent and imagination to succeed

well folks here i am again. tearing apart a model and then trashing my own work and restarting. so after a lot of researching, a chat with a model builder that i have a large respect for, well.... a different plan was needed. so with that in mind i tore out all that was interior of hawkenstien. all the framework was removed. this allowed me the chance to grind out around the hatch door a bit to get it more to something that i like. then i used the tools at hand to try to get the framework right. i wanted to have a good foundation. still not sure it is right but it is closer than what i had before. using one of those wire shape transfer thingies, a thick plastic for sale sign, paper, a scissor, a pencil, knives, and sanding material i began. i first got the general shape onto the paper and cut it out. i traced the shape onto plastic times two. cutting them out i glued one to the other and then rough shaped it, using lots of dryfitting to try to get it as close as i could. three sets plus three of the bulkheads were made. finally i had six builkheads i can use. they are still rough but they are a good general shape. as i do not have the entire side cut out these will work for what i need. i will clean them up though to make sure all fits the way it should. pictures. now before it is mentioned remember the bulkheads are glued in with white glue. just to try to give me the idea of what they would look like and what they still needed to have done. i also noticed that #4 and #6 are a bit off. they should be easy to get in line. my next session will be getting the spacing right and then trying to get some stringers on. till the next time my friends. comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. joe

well with all of this in mind the ones i have are ok but they are not right yet. i believe he is a member here so i want to publicly state again a huge thanks to saul "sharkmouth" garcia. his vast assortment of references come to my aid yet again.
i have been plodding along building models for 32 years. about 15 years ago i started with feeble steps to try to add some detail to my work. i am looking at this as a golden opportunity to build something special. to me this means if i need to i will redo it a hundred times to get the right look, small price to pay.
