Chaps. As promised, a bit of work up the front end, doesn't look much but it took quite a while! Excellent detail on the headlight parts, my pics don't do it justice. Handlebars on temporarily, they fit in exactly the same way as a 1:1, lovely stuff. Thanks chaps.

Great work Prof,as is your norm!...I do have a question tho,if I may..Have you actually used any glue on this yet?,because it looks like it's all been bolted together!!!!!

Chaps, thank you.
CeeBee, I know what ya mean matey but yes, glue has been used. To be fair, not a great deal, the frame parts, the wheel halves and the crank cases but pretty much everything else is screwed, bolted of fastened with poly caps.
More glue will be waved about soon, promise!

The kit and your work are amazing. The handle bar and clamps look every bit 1:1, not to mention the other bits and pieces.

Mence, anyone not knowing its a kit would think it was the real deal at first glance. Heck it does anyhow!

Chaps. Robbo, cheers geeza, glad you approve. Mark, welcome aboard buddy, pleased to read you're another 1/6 fan, stay tuned, there's more where this came from! Right, update time, forks. First pic says it all really, nice load of parts but only three are styrene. All goes together perfectly with one of the kit supplied wrenches. Then you simply slip them into the yolks, locate them in a notch on the underside of the top yolk and bolt them down. The wheel shouldn't be fitted yet but I couldn't resist slipping it in for a pic or two. And finally a quick pic of the whole thing, I love that shot! That's it for now, ACW...

almost! It's not cheap but as I'm a three builds a year type of guy the price doesn't bother me as much as if I was knocking out one a month. Your question re paint is a valid one, it appears to be a bolt together, no effort required type of kit which to a certain extent it is. Tamiya have done a brilliant job of giving something which sits part way between a No Glue Required build and a Glue Only one but it still harks back to a more traditional kit. Everything comes on sprues still and needs to be cut and prepped in the normal fashion. Out of the whole box full, five sprues are finished in an aluminium or chrome finish, everything else needs to be painted plus the four alloy finish wheel parts. It's probably because it's being painted pretty much the same colour as the base styrene it appears that nothing is being done apart from the odd blob of glue and the occasional twiddle with a screwdriver, believe me, if that was the case, it would have been in the Gallery before Christmas!

You're very kind. I guess this is the way Tamiya sees it's big scale car and bike kits going, very similar in approach to their 12th scale Ferrari and Porsche and indeed their Caterham (which I happen to have calling to me from the loft). Compare it to the Harley FLH1200 I completed a couple of months back, that was much more glue than screw. I think Tamiya have got the balance about right with this new one, any more bolting together than this and it almost ceases to become a kit! It's probably done to capture as much of the punters business as possible, those that like building models and those that like models but prefer a bit more of an engineering angle if you like. Me, I do it cos it's easy! . No skill required!

Nice progress Mence and Tamiya have really done there home work to build this model reasonably easy.
Talking about the price if you buy a big Dragon kit with al the goodies for it you pay almost the same as this kit after some searching on the internet. I hope to start this year on my H-D but have a few other kits in this scale that are waiting years to build :-)
