Looking good Leon, I bought Dragons new M48A3 (which I subsequently swapped for Dragon Zimmed Henschel King Tiger as I struggle to get into any build that isn't German and definately not WWII). I spent a lot of time researching the tank - not just the tank itself but particularly from a basecoat point of view and what I needed to use as I was going to be building a 'Nam era tank as opposed to an OD Green WWII tank. Eventually after much recommendations and ordering a bottle of Vallejo Model Colour 'Brown Violet', which sounds like a daft colour but on receipt of it I was really impressed with the shade. A very Dark Green with a vivid hint of a brown tone just like you see in the photos of the real 'Nam vehicles. Of course Tamiya do so many shades of Green that can be tinkered with you're always well covered but definately avoid that WWII style 'Bright Green' that you sometimes see. I'll be interested in seeing what you do with this Leon - keep it up! Note - this kit looks no worse than the Dragon release that I bought. I know this has some 'innacurracies' that only the eagle-eyed amongst you who are fussed by a few smale inches would worry about and the hole in the base which will fill no issue. I had to spend an extra £8 to get the Mantlet Cover and Xenon Searchlight from Lucky Models for my Dragon kit - not needed here! Ben

Lookin' good Leon. That kit's a little rough in places, looks like you're doing a fine job with it. Ben, Tamiya's kit can still build into a nice M48, but there's a lot that's simplified or, heaven forbid, inaccurate, which the Dragon kit addresses nicely. I hope to get tucked in to one of Dragon's -48s this year, but I've still got a couple of Tammy's kits in the stash or in progress. Not intended as a hi-jack, but now that Dragon has such a nice M48 in the box, it sure would be nice to see an AM company do the M8 'dozer blade.....

Nice OD shade, Leon.
I just ordered Lifecolor's modulation set for OD, I want to try Mike Rinaldi's approach.

Nemo, I heard somewhere Academy had discontinued this for some reason. Not sure it's true, but I've been looking for one and have not been able to find it for about a year now

G missed you there.I imagine it was tough keeping these things in shape. Worse were the gators, you can only imagine what sea water does to steel. Only thing I recall vividly from 29 Palms is how the sand and dust affected the turret traversing mechanisms. Lotsa cursing coming from the crews.
The build is looking superb. I'll be awaiting further.
