Done yet? I think I am suffering from 'No Carl Update' withdrawal symptoms...
Stay warm out there... it has been very cold here that I have to wear slippers in the basement.

Thanks gents On the subject of goofy weather it made it to 46 degrees yesterday here, and of course dropped to the high twenties once the sun went down. This makes for interesting driving what with all the slush freezing in ridges for the first day or so before it all melts off. A bit more progress. I've read that the Germans sometimes painted their MC's field grey early on so I figured I'd try it Yuk, pew, hated it. No wonder the Krauts discontinued this practice. Therefore,... I can live with this. Since this seems to be my experimental phase I decided to try weathering and fading with filters instead of my old tried and true but easy to bungle overspray method. Here's where it's gotten me so far Needs a bit more on the upper surfaces I think. More twiddling to come Regards, Mark

About the same over here with the weather warming up . Now the creeks are at flood stage .
Agreed , the darker gray on the M.C. looks better .
38 looks good Mark , are you going to do a darker wash on this one ?

Thanks Wingy going slower helps
Carl, I'm not sure about the wash, been mulling that over...Does it make sense to darken it once I've just gotten done lightening it? For a pinwash, perhaps it does. If you've any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks for stopping in
Regards, Mark

Making good progress Mark! I think you may have gotten the wrong color for 'field gray'. German field-gray was really a greenish color...not a light gray. Either way I think keeping the MC in panzer gray works better. Looking forward to more!

The MC is looking good with the Panzer gray Mark.A darker color for the pin wash will really make the details pop.

Pin wash to bring out the details of the rivets , bolts and other assorted small details .

Nemo-Then you're not wrong any more often than I. Thanks for the look and praise
Bill-Well, the paint bottle did say field grey perhaps they lied. I'll be at it
Leon-Thanks, and I could not agree more about pinwashing
Carl-All is now clear sometimes I ain't too sharp. On this one a very dark grey should do the trick I should think
Regards, Mark

Heck Mark fact is I'm not up on all of the terms . I agree about starting out with a pin wash a little darker than your base color and go darker from there in some areas if you think you like the look . A dullcoat when your done will make the pin wash more contrasting to the base color .

looking good, if you are going for a dusty look then the light wash/filter used would work well, you could then use a darker pin wash on selected areas for a bit of contrast

Thanks Pete Got the little mutt to the end of the weathering cycle. I was thinking it was going to be a bit blotchy but it all blended in well enough for me. The pinwash is a bit subtle but better than stand out garish I think. Now for muffler dust and dirt Regards, Mark
