To keep from pushing the Tiger II project too fast I started a Dragon 38(t) E/F a couple of days ago and here's where it's at This is a windup for a cutaway project I've mentioned elsewhere altho I'll not be cutting it. So far it's a pretty nice little kit with all the teeny Dragon parts that are maddening but look good. Not sure the interior colors are right but reference on these is difficult to find at best Regards, Mark

Thanks for the praise and look Bill-I figure it'll be a good distraction Andy-Welcome aboard Wouts-Thank you, I haven't done much early stuff so now's the time Progress on this is almost painfully slow but it's happening With the glacis dry fit Dragon's being Dragon with this. The floor had a couple of locating rings for the transmission which I happily glued on. I was not so happy later when I discovered it was too high, high enough that the hull plate would not go on. Got out the dremel and it fits nice now. Glad for putty. Lots of dry fitting and filing needed to make this go together right. It's almost tragic that so little of this will be seen once all's together Regards, Mark

Good thing you were able to work around the DML-instruction mishap Mark and keep this one rolling. Engine's looking good! You're right about very little of it being visible but we know it's there.

Great work! I'm building Trumpeters 38(t) at the present - a lovely kit, no interior but after spending as long as I can remember building Dragon's head spanking 'Smart-Kits' I fancied a change - basically something very simple and a bit cheaper! I love that interior - I've got a StuG III G build coming up with interior and am looking forward to detailing the insides. Shame the engine will be lost but we know it's there and you've got the photos. Can you make the hatches workable to show the engine. I imagine with the turret removed the interior can be fully admired? I hope so as you've done a lovely job there Keep us posted, Ben

Bill-Well that was my own fault; I've build enough Dragon kits that I should know to always dry fit. Thanks for the nice comments
Ben-Yeah some Dragon kits, like this one, you just can't trust to fit right but the key is being painstaking. Happily on this offering the engine compartment hatches are separate so I'll be showing them open altho my idea for the display of this does not allow for the turret to be off. Thanks also sir
After endless sifting of the world wide web I finally found pictures, well taken pictures of the engine compartment of a 38(t)which will allow me to do a bit of scratching as the kit is rather basic in this area. Will update as progress occurs

So while I'm waffling about the T II I've been messing with this. Here's the major components dry fit I had formulated an elaborate plan to scratch a bunch of extra detail in the engine compartment but then saw this when the roof was dry fit which makes me re-evaluate the original intended level of detailing. Thanks gents It appears that I can only work so small these days; I left a lot of things off like the fuel system banjo bolts...couldn't even begin to think about how to do those for instance. So, for better or worse, this is what it is It'll have to do Regards, Mark

No it's a gas job. 4 cylinder I'm pretty sure. The distributor's on the left rear of the engine, if you look close you can see the intake manifold hose and dashpot for vacuum advance in there somewhere. Dragon molded the distributor with a rubber dust cover in place as well as a conduit to carry the plug wires and that's just fine with me since making a cap in this scale is a daunting proposition at best

Nice work detailing the Tatra engine on this one Mark, looking good. I hear you about those banjo bolts, can't have a musical performance going on in the rear as you head into combat!

Carl, the only thing I can figure is if one looks at one of these from the front or back they bear a passing resemblance to a banjo
