Hi guys , as you will know this year marks 100 years since the beginning of WWI and Im very sure you dont need a History lesson about that Anyhoo I thought it would be fun to mark the year with a WWI GB , there really are no rules to this . Subjects can be anything you like to do with WWI but obviously military related , figures , ships, planes and armour in any scale are welcome . This is just a feeler thread as I would like to see if the feedback warrants the GB or not Thanks Edit : I should mention that the GB will be open ended for the year to mark its importance .

Sounds interesting...but I don't believe I have a single thing (really?) in the stash that would qualify.
How can that be possible?

I don't think I do have any figs that would work. I need to look in the stash to be sure, because wow, how can that be?

Very good idea Deano, especially to mark an extremely important anniversary such as this. I also have nothing suitable but was planning on doing a British Mk IV tank to mark the occasion this year so I'm most definitely in Just don't know when as I'm hoping a certain Japanese company brings out a Mk IV at some point this year. I've had it on good authority that they where crawling all over the Bovington Mk IV's last year. You never know!

I have started a Great War GB board, please post all threads pertaining to that GB there. I will move this thread this evening/early morning so as to give everyone time to read it.
Once we decide on a start/end date I will post it in my thread there.

GB to make D-Day GB happen... hard to believe it will be 70 years.

good idea! Since I'm living in one of the countries where the fighting took place (and most part of Belgium was occupied by the Germans during the War) I was planning of doing something WWI. I'm really looking forward to do a MkIV but it might be something different...

Got a couple of shows coming up in March and April...going to see what I can find that would qualify for a WWI entry. I'm not coming up with a lot of subjects off the top of my head - are there more than I'm thinking of? Anyone have a list?

Softskins? See, I'm totally not thinking that route at all. I need to do some research, I think!
As far as aircraft, would everything be rigged biplanes?

Looked everywhere and I don't think somebody makes a figure bust of US doughboy in 1/9 or 1/10. Young Miniature doesn't as they only have Brit and German. Any suggestion?

Softskins? See, I'm totally not thinking that route at all. I need to do some research, I think! As far as aircraft, would everything be rigged biplanes? Hey buddy, There are a lot of options out there for WW1 wingy stuff across all scales. Roden do a bucket load of WW1 wingys, a lot of it in Braille scale. Wingnut Wings do some breathtaking stuff in 1/32 and have a great range available. There are not a huge amount of "unrigged" kits out there, but there are a few, such as the Hansa-Brandenburg W.29 floatplane, or you could do something like the Fokker E.III monoplane, which does have some rigging but it is pretty minimal. Your best bet is to have a look around the internets and see what grabs your fancy. I have 2 or 3 Roden kits in Braille which I might have a crack at...... if I can find the bleedin' time!!!........ Cheers, Sam

Yeah, it's definitely the rigging that turns me off from WWI aircraft. Turns out that I DO have one kit - a 1/48 Eduard Albatros D.V. May just have to suck it up and bang it out!
