You boys, ya just tooooo much! All these images are brilliant, talk about brain food, I'm loving it but the problem still remains, body moldings / paint colours / Mence not good at masking / where exactly to put the break between colours. Boots, you have a plan which fits with my skill set, paint the roof a different colour. Jeff, my brains full, all these ideas, might as well go buy another dozen Merc kits and make this thread my permanent residence! Dicky, two similar shades also fits with my skill level (low), gotta think what might suit the wheels I plan to use too. Was pondering running the colour split in line with the change in panel shape down the sides, that I might be able to do, it runs round the back behind the bumper so all is good there, it's just what to do at the front, the line rises towards the front as it meets the back of the front wing, I Guess common sense says run it down the top of the wing and leave the top half of the car and the bonnet the other colour? That might work with Pearl Light Blue over Silver with chrome wheels? Then there's the interior.... Wine, need wine.

We did run away with it a bit didn't we Slam a photo of the body up so we can see it Man. I think the light blue/silver combo would look good. Of course a nice shade of Merlot would work with the silver too

The Pearl does look sweet Mence!! As for the chrome BMF (Bare Metal Foil) is an option I would think. Burnish it on after the paint and trim with a brand ne blade. www.bare-metal.com/That first finish Jeff posted might be obtainable...Alclad II - Prismatic-Holomatic: alclad2.com/finishes/prismatic-holomatic/ Just saying!

Oh very nice Joe! Great to see another one. Not sure whether I will go with the custom bonnet or the smooth one, to be honest, not sure about bumpers or grill either! It's a great canvas for a cool finish, ya got me juices flowing now!

I think we're fast heading towards single colour here boys otherwise I'll never get started! I might reserve two colour for my Chevy Nomad build. On the subject of starting, the chassis must have been packed badly or something, it's displaying a rather unpleasant diagonal warp of nearly 10mm.

10 mm? Holy spit, that sucks. This thing has been in an accident and hasn't even been built yet Mence, about the color. You're right, almost any paint scheme or color looks good on this car, hence the problem. This is the iconic Lead Sled and you really can't go wrong any way you go. If you're more comfortable doing one color, go for it. I don't think I've seen an ugly one. Heck, they even look good in primer . Matt or gloss, one color or many, flames or no flames, they just seem to turn out in the end. I say, pick a color and go for it Bro. I do think you should use the louvered hood though

Chaps. Welcome Robbo, good to have ya company buddy. Boots, yep, it's a real pain, causing slightly bigger issues as you will see. Joe, sorry to read you had the problem too mate. I think the problem may be the way Revell pack their auto kits, they always appear a bit tight in their box? Jeff, colours..... Raaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I really need to get my s**t sorted. I'm going to order some paint from Hiroboy anyway so I'll order a couple of my preferred colours and take a view on it in the meantime. Anyway, we're orfe!....sort of. As mentioned, major league chassis warp which was mostly sorted after a swim in warm water. Right, with that done, a quick browse of the instructions suggest you sandwich the exhausts between the X shape chassis cross brace. It comes as two parts, one half molded as part of the chassis, the other half laid on top...yeah right! The centre part of the chassis has been badly compressed? Meaning there is absolutely no way you can assemble the exhausts and glue the cross brace in place and make it look even remotely acceptable. Slept on it overnight and came up with a plan which is odd as they normally come to me when I'm far from sober. It meant cutting the cross brace part into no less than nine pieces and then carefully lining up the bits and one by one putting it back together with instant glue. Pic shows the first five in place, the outer portions are missing as the exhausts run through those areas. Bit scrappy at the moment but the plan appears to be working, it's pulling itself back into shape and I hope will look ok with a clean up.

What in the WORLD? I leave for a few days to handle some family matters, and someone let Mence sneak back into the Shiny forum? THIS IS NOT A BRADLEY SIR!!Great now I have to follow two threads at once Hope it doesn't confuse the builder or else this thing will wind up with a turret, and the Bradley will have a candy paint job and a Cadillac engine in it.

Thank you chaps. Leon, cheers matey, I wasn't expecting to get so heavily involved in the kit so early on, nasty shock but we're working through it. James me and Boots have a special back door into the shiny section so we can come and go as we please. One thing about this forum, turn ya back for a minute and all sorts of stuff goes on! I will try to keep the two sets of instructions well away from each other to avoid the Metallic Blue Bradley scenario. Dicky, it was a difficult one buddy, easy enough to fix but not if you wanted to retain the nice detail that it has. It's taken time but progress is being made as the next pic will testify. It needs rubbing back and re priming before I can give it a shot of Semi Gloss Black Enamel. I also took the opportunity to add some bolt head details to the leaf spring shackles, probably won't be seen but I know they're there. I might fill the pin marks in the upper side of the leaf springs too. Still wrestling with the colour situation... Chaps.
