Hi Folks, started a Dragon Jagdpanzer IV build. WHAT A DREADFULL DRAGON kit this is! Time after time I was bewildered with the bad engineering & the lack of detail of this kit. ***Flaming mode off** So after some frustrating moments the build is done and I'm gonna place it on a small vignette suggesting a wrecked (German) house. The tracks will be the good old ones from a Tamiya kit or Friul ones. The engine deck still lacks the typical German AFV tools and other cute German goodies. Will fix that after the initial hard edge 3 tone camo is applied. A few more pics can be found here. Ready for priming now. Cheers, Marcel.

Hi Marcel, This kit is a real pain but with a little tlc you can make something nice of it, and you did! I am working on fhe same kit and used some features put of the sparebox and mr surfacer on the sides for some extra structure. Good luck with this one and i am looking forward for more

Crappy Dragon kit 0 - Marcel 1
As long as you come out top, and you most definitely did, that's a good thing.

those figures are looking good, Marcel. But may I ask what kit this is because I am building on and off the latest jagdpanzer IV L/70 V from Dragon and no pain at all, fits like a glove.

Thnx folks for those enthusiastic words! It's the Dragon "Johan Huber" DX05 version and like I said it's a horrible kit so I'm glad the build is done. Just putted a Black Chaos primer from GW on it. Before I did the primer job I added some small copper wired details. I changed my mind and gonna do a disc camo instead of a 3 tone hard edge. Will use the Ushi masks on top of a green & brown camo. Will update soon... Marcel

Was it bad fit or lack of details that made this kit so bad? Nice to see such and "in action" scene from you.

Thnx folks! Ah, that's looking good Elco. Gonna use those mask this evening... As a matter of fact both. Just unbelieveable for such a big brand. There's also a plus which is the turned metal barrel and the PE shurzen but that's about it. Anyway the build is done so it's time for paint. After a black primer I airbrushed the brown camo: Followed by the green layer: Next will be spraying the disc camo using the masks from Ushi: www.uschivdr.com/products-in-detail/masks-disc-camo-35th-and-48th/Afterwards I will do some hi-light spraying and will end up with a postshade. Oh joy. Cheers, Marcel

That scheme makes for a pretty unique late war camo.

Thnx Dicky but next time I choose a good old Tamiya kit. After 3.5 hours those %$#&^%$!^$#$&!@#&!! discs are on... OMG that was a h#ll of a job. After 45 minutes I was thinking to spray "just" a 3 tone default camo but hey "no pain no gain" and ended up with this result: Have to finish the yellow areas yet but for now I'm done with it and gonna watch some TV... Don't know about these masks. Yes they are nice when you need a disc camo on a cube. But since and AFV and even a simple Jagdpanzer is not a cube this is quite a tricky job. The easiest parts are the side walls and the bottom front wall all the other faces are a pain in the #ss. Sorry for the %$#%^$*&%! language but after this kind of masking I'm a bit %$#%^$*&%!. Will be continued..... Goodnight, Marcel.

Glad you stuck with it Marcel! Disc camo always produces an eye-catcher. I've been tempted to try it a couple of times myself but have always held back.

Great job so far Marcel! The camo is excellent and makes it a real eye catcher. Your mention of the Tamiya kit is funny. I'm currently working on one of their ancient JP IV kits (#88, relabeled MM188). I'm here to tell you, that you probably did yourself a favor choosing the Dragon version. Lots of putty work, and from what I've seen in your pics, even less detail. I only hope I can get it looking half as good as yours.
