Already looks good. There was a volume, the model doesn't look 'flat' any more. Good luck Wouter!

Guys, glad you approve. Big thanks for that Dierk, think you got a point, I'll be adding a bit more dirt to the left wheels, though not too much since I want to keep a bit of the whitewash visible on it. Now, regarding the snow on the tracks (no photos yet, sorry chaps). I have tried to 'snowerize' one trackrun already. I use Joefix Studios snow, and the product is great. However, application was less . I tried to brushpaint thinned PVA glue on the tracks and then drop the snow on top of it. But I think it's looking to bit of a mess. I need to work out something else. Especially because I want thick volumes of snow sitting in between the links. I have tried to brush Tamiya X-20 thinner on the tracks as well and drop snow on it (I found that some people use that as pigment fixer) but it didn't adhere well. In fact, when handling the tracks it just came off. Any ideas? I could use MIG pigment fixer but not sure if that would hold as well. Also found that a couple of years ago, Todd sprayed hairspray or some other tacky varnish first and dropped the snow on top of it. Guess that could work. Anyone who can help me out here a bit :/ Snow ain't easy, that's for sure Cheers

Today, after some garden work, I had some time for the StuG again. Time to get the tracks a bit dirty and snowy. First I added some dry pigments to the trackrun. I used a dark batch of pigments (custom mixed several dark pigments) and one lighter batch. I still had these from an earlier build. Then I gently applied pigment fixer with a pipette. On top of the still wet tracks I dropped some more pigments to get a thicker texture. To help things speed up I used a hairdryer after that. Next were some mud spatter. I used Wilder brown mud spatter and Ammo Nature Effects. I used an old toothbrush for this. Again, after that I used a hairdryer. I made the tracks wet again with pigment fixer and dropped Joefix snow on top of that. I must say I'm not 100% happy and also, it seems to me that on burnished white metal tracks, it's harder for the pigments to 'stick' to the surface, even with pigment fixer. After that I added the tracks to the StuG There still a lot of finetuning needed. I noticed something annoying btw: it seems to me that the right drive sprocket is sitting a mm or so too much to the right. It looks a bit awkward, so I need to remove it and push it a bit deeper. Annoying thing is that it was glued in place already with ca glue, hope this works out well :/ Cheers

Good progress Wouter! Really liking how this is developing. Personally I'd have liked to have seen a few more bits of the Ostketten extensions missing, but that's just me.

Leon thanks mate! Dierk, thanks chap, glad you like it. Actually there are more parts missing, but I think on last set of photos it's not quite clear. On the otherhand, the Ostketten are quite completely missing...these are Winterketten, not Ostketten Cheers

these are Winterketten, not Ostketten Cheers Pfft - why doesn't it surprise me to learn that there is a difference? Oh yeah - German stuff 'these bolts were specially made to be used in spring and autumn' complex is always better than simple

I like the snow effects on the tracks mate, great pics too btw, I like the damaged Winterketten as seen on the pic.
The damage breaks up the symmetry and that's always a plus !
Keep them coming, you're going well fella !

Bill, thanks a lot mate, would be great ey, but I think there are too many mistakes to make it a showstopper (over here anyway, quite sure judging would notice those...) . Still, I like the fact that you call it that way these are Winterketten, not Ostketten Cheers Pfft - why doesn't it surprise me to learn that there is a difference? Oh yeah - German stuff 'these bolts were specially made to be used in spring and autumn' complex is always better than simple Yeah, I know. I must say that before I started this build I didn't know too much about the difference between Winter and Ostketten, but the differences are quite distinct. And yeah, Germans liked to make things quite complicated and long names as well. But those things make that I'm very interested in all that stuff Andy, thanks bud . And I can tell you this, after the use of your teethbrush, I think you might want to buy a new one now LOL Panzerjäger, thanks a lot chap Cheers

Guyke, just missed your comment there. Thanks mate, I'm glad you like the snow effects. Found it quite hard to realize though not too unhappy with how it looks so far (although the snow on the left track needs some more attention: it's snowwhite (LOL) snow vs snow with a more yellow hue to it...too big of a difference And I agree, assymetrical stuff in this case is much more interesting Cheers

Oh yes, the Germans do like their tapeworm words! Top of the pile is currently "Vermögenszuordnungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung" There are a couple of longer ones (no, really!) but they're obsolete. Little tip on 'yellow tinged snow': don't eat it!

...Vermögenszuordnungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung... Fine word! It is enough one this word to explain everything in the world. I will learn this word.

If only Martin - unfortunately it only names one tiny aspect of one thing.

If only Martin - unfortunately it only names one tiny aspect of one thing. But it does include 'ordnung'...the go-to standard for any overly-complicated word definition!

Well, seems a while since I updated something. I haven't been on line a lot lately (work, family, clean weather - means cleaning my car A LOT and so on) but I haven't been sitting still, several sessions were needed for sculpting two of the figures. Still WIP and not finished but thought I shared some of it with you lot. The figure standing on the engine deck is wearing the Winter Kombination for armor crews and the standing figure is wearing the winter parka. Cheers
