Man that rust looks real . thanks! honestly. the thing that i keep seeing that makes me feel that it doesnt look quite right is the lack of depth between layers. i may be nitpicking, but i want to figure out how to make it look actually peeled, or be thicker between layers like it is in real life (in terms of the chipped stuff). other than that i think it came out good for my first try. i just think it could be better. Great progress you made here, when you looking for more dept use oils. Just place real tiny spots of yellow, orange, red etc and blend them together by tapping(if you know what i mean) you create even more dept. But again, great progress!!

just try it on a test item and let it cure for a couple of days. You can use a damped brush with thinner for more smooth effects like this. I like to use the AK/Mig thinner because it not as aggressive as normal thinners. Good luck !

Moar Progress! So before i begin with the pics... I wanted to point out that i was pretty happy with the rust before seeing as it was my first attempt. However, being a perfectionist (my work is by no means perfect in any way, however i always strive to make something better and better. or at least improve upon it each time i try it), i redid my formula for rust. and i have to say im pretty happy with it right now. I haven't done washes, filters, dirt or mud or anything like that yet. i want to wait till its all assembled before i do that so i don't waste product that's not seen, and i can know where parts overlap. so, for some reason its extremely vibrant. not sure why. the actual model is more even, so please ignore that part. Heres the body with the canopy on: The barrels redone (im really happy with these! Again, no fuel or oil stains yet) Engine Redone. The dark brown stuff is where im going to do either paint chipping or other colors of rust (the manifolds will be dark rust, the rest like air cleaners will be painted some colors and chipped. I want it to be a pretty varied engine). I like the rust so far. And finally the fuel trailer (again, no washes yet, or mud or dirt). Please note that i can no longer see the star on the side. Im hoping that its still viewable and that its just my color blindness but i cant see it anymore haha. The stuggles of working in russian military colors are real. The tires havent been weathered yet. Just painted is all so far. again, keep in mind the colors are more vibrant that they are in real life. Most notibly on the rust. I hope you guys enjoy! Thanks for lookin'

Definitely looks like it's been to the wars and back a few times! Very nice end result on the wear and tear, chipping, rust, etc. The star is a nice touch especially considering it's 'disappeared' for you.
