Just ordered one for myself!
Tried a few cameras for video at the bench and none of them have been satisfactory. The D610 rocks at still photos, but video is cumbersome as all get-out. Two camcorders I've tried were both busts - too bulky and there's nowhere good to set them up. GoPro has far too wide a shooting angle to be useful...
The Moto X can shoot HD and UHD - pretty impressive for a phone - will definitely be keen to give it a go.
I've been doing post-production in Adobe and really enjoying it - but frustration with my "from the side" footage has kept me from really investing time. That and, well, lack of time...

Indeed some of the phones are more than adequate for the task. I was thinking of trying one of the Go Pros as the cheaper ones are under $100 and are almost indestructible!! Nice bid picking up the clamp!! Well worth it! The clamp is super stiff but that is not exactly a bad thing, it hold great!
Time is the biggest issue when it comes to anything. With the phone and the holder it should be much easier. Slap the phone in there move it around and work...even if it for 5 min. The lack of big se4t up is key! I spent time tracking down transitions and various clips and predefined stuff which all help the WMM work pretty good. The Adobe is nice because, if I am correct, you can make your own transitions from scratch. I would be dangerous with something like that....LOL!! End up making videos and not building models!

Yeah Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects are extremely powerful - I've barely scratched the surface of either! Been messing a bit with After Effects, taking projects others have uploaded and editing them, and so it's finally starting to make some sense. But definitely a different world from the Photoshop I'm used to! Here's the latest rev of the opening bumper I'm building:

Doogs - that's all After Effects? Wow. Yep! A bit of Photoshop slicing and sizing to get right-size images, but the motion graphics etc is all After Effects

Oh holy smoke TRM, that's absolutely magnificent! I'll need to get caught up on this build. The "tossed together" video is most informative. Thank you for that. Dave

Thank you Dave!! Most appreciated!! Glad you enjoyed the video! I am plotting my next move in that area and might make something a little longer and hopefully a little more descriptive.

Thanks Oliver! The kit runs about $65.00US. When you add the tracks, brass barrel and detail of the kit together...well worth it I feel.
