Hi Deano ... Great subject and great start .. 222 has probably the most pictures of all the 501st KTs .. The camo is very interesting on this KT being both hard edge and soft edged at the same time .. This was one of the tanks that was supposed to go to the 509th but was rerouted to the 501ss for the Ardennes offensive. Probably the repainting of the numbers was reason for the strange camo . If you want I can post quite a few pictures of her here for you..let me know if you're interested.. all the best Rick Thanks for all the feedback guys , really appreciate that .... Richard that would be great if you could post some pics , Im not building 222 as the boxart but its always good to have ref pics in a blog Ok more progress with the upper hull and turret ............ The kit is going together well as to be expected , a good bit of clean up is required but worth the effort .... more on this one soon .

I always liked the look of missing skirts myself. They remind of some people from Kentucky I know... with missing teeth. It brings interesting character in my opinion.

Nice looking figures... so shiny! Not used to seeing many white metal figures... must be pretty common for 1/72 builds.

Hi Andy , not sure ... reckon plastic and resin are more common in 1/72 .... white metal seem to be directed at gammers for thier durability . These TDQ castings are for wargamming but make good dislay peices IMO .

Someone more familiar with the subject please educate me. I know enough to know they were not called King Tigers from the German point of view but as the Tiger B, but weren't Late Production KT's used in the BOB? I thought KT's with transport tracks, 18 tooth sprockets and no side fenders were used?
But I see all BOB KT's kits have the usual set up with the combat tracks and fenders.
Do I have it all wrong and what point of reference material do I need to get that lays all of this out?
BTW Deano... your work is fantastic as usual and I am not rivet counting anything, just asking when the KT I described came into play during the war.
Jeff

Thanks Jeff , its a cool and fair question , the late KT was used in the Ardennes as well yes .It also had a new track pattern and several other slight changes . The Ardennes offensive was Hitlers last throw of the dice and mustered up a force from all corners of his Army so there would of been many variants mixed in together . I have even seen a photo of knocked out Panther D in that Battle which goes to show how things were for the German army at that point .
