Some old friends of mine started a group build so of course I had to shelve all of my other projects and get this going. It is Dragons 1/35 Panzer IIIN which will be done as a vehicle getting ready for the battle of Kursk. I spared everybody the construction of another Panzer III and I am starting this by wrapping up the construction. I have a few more hours and it will be ready for primer. I would have been done sooner but I got really frustrated with the PE. It is still beyond my abilities. I will keep on trying though. Anyway here is a picture of the side that is nearly done. I have a good block of time tomorrow to get the other side and the turret finished. I also realize the the track is on backwards and that will be taken care of later. Thanks for looking, Dennis

Oh yes - the cursed PE! I feel your pain. All those tool-clamps are a good reason for me to stay away from German armour rofl-roll

Thanks everybody! I just successfully did the most complex piece of PE I have ever done in my life! This is for the jack. Unfortunately I have to do another one just like it

Great job so far .. Hey if I can get away with using the plastic parts , I rather use them than to get frustrated with my fat fingers and PE . Many times just some thinning out the plastic parts will do the trick.. On the tools what I do now is just add the PE handles to the plastic blob on the tools. Works for me and I keep my sanity (some may disagree)
Keep the pictures coming !

Sorry that it has been a while since I have posted an update. I have finally finished construction and I am ready to start getting this thing ready for paint. Next time I am going to be very careful about taking on too much PE as it kind of turned me off. I know I just need to practice and I will come to love it, but until then more plastic less brass for me. Anyway here it is before I start disassembling it again. After I get it apart I am going to try Vallejo red primer on it to see how it works. Thanks for looking Dennis

Thanks all! Well a miracle has happened and I have put some paint to plastic. I was anxious to try out my new bottle of Vallejo Acrylic primer so I busted out the AK-47 of airbrushes, the Pasche Model H. I have more expensive airbrushes but I find this is the best for putting down a very thin, consistent layer with almost zero tip drying. I love this thing. I have heard that some have had trouble with the finish when working with this primer but I saw Rob's video on how to use it and thought I would give it a try. I have to say that I got a very smooth finish and I am happy with it. I decided to try the turret first (I knocked a tool clip off the hull) The armor skirts are made out of aluminum and I wasn't sure how it would take. I need not have worried.

Thanks everyone! Just a little update to show that I am making some progress. I just about have the priming finished. Once that is totally done I will do some pre-shading before the first Dunkelgelb base coat.

It is really starting to get fun now. I have been sneaking in a little here and there and have the hull painted the base color. I should be able to get the loose stuff like the roadwheels and the shurzen done over the next few days. I am planning what I am going to do after the base coat is totally finished. Here is where it stands for now. Dennis

PE, PE I mostly hate the stuff and will use plastic instead, especially the really tiny stuff. This is supposed to be fun, after all. That being said, you've sure done a bang up job on this one it's a beauty already

Nice to see the base color on. Also glad you liked the primer. Main thing to remember with acrylics is low pressure and light coats. I always get a nice Matt and smooth finish this way.
