I need to try a cutout someday. But first, a kit that has a FULL interior! Jeff

Marching on!! I started some minor detailing in preparation for the soon to arrive weathering. The muffler needed to get some rust laid down. I think we all remember where I left off on the base the other day. It was time to get a base down on the base..."all about that base, bout that base...." Combining fine sand, plaster and some pigments and making a mix to about the consistency of a thick frosting. This was applied with a tongue depressor followed with a dry application of pigments directly on top of the wet mix. This will be one of the last mock ups before the final weathering and base push. Time to hit the bench again!!!

I think you have an interdimensional space that violate the space-time continuum somewhere in your office. It's the only way to explain all of the stuff you get done.

That's the only way he can be doing it. And it's looking pretty darn nice too. Things are finally getting glued together, only the hatches are just set in place for the pics. I cut a section out of the main hatch and can't decide on open or closed. I scratched some rudimentary vision blocks for the front.

Marc, The scratch blocks look great if you ask me!! All coming together nicely my friend!! Tough call on the open or closed...keep pushing forward on it! Thanks Dupes! that "inter-dimensional space that violate the space-time continuum" i think resides between my ears brotha!! Thanks Andy!! I wish that was the case lately. Most things are getting done in the evening as of late!! Thanks Marc!! The fun stuff begins soon!! Weathering!! Should slow up a bit I think!! Hey Wouts!! Thank you buddy!! Most appreciated!! Thanks Boss! Now if I can just stay off for good I might finish a few before the stroke of midnight in a couple weeks!!

Marc - I'd go for the open hatch, after all the whole idea behind this build seems to be wanting to show the goodies inside.

TODD! You're alive. Oh good. As usual, it gets harder and harder to get bench time as the big day approaches. Have gotten a few things added. Didn't get a clear shot but you can see the fenders are attached. I was not happy with the job i did on the PE fenders so they were scrapped. I drilled and pinned the tow clevis guard and added the PE chain. With some final advise from Bill, the MK master, I started in on the tracks. And DAYUM are these small. Each with 4 sure gates to cut and clean. They came in sets of 2 with one side fitting very nicely in my straight clippers for a quick even clip. The other inner side was a little harder since those clippers did't fit. So I set up the Chopper with a stop in about 2 minutes and it literally took just a few minutes to get through them, each with perfect cut and no trimming needed after that. Very simple jig with a balsa strip, and a thin strip of double stick tape, wide enough for the guide teeth to fit over and again, minutes to assemble the run to start gluing in the pins. The balsa strip is leaped to a thicker piece for stiffness.

Hey guys thanks. I am doing something for the 1st time since I started my home inspection business. I am taking the week between Xmas and new years off. WOOHOO! I am hoping that I get bench time. If I get the small batch bourbons i asked from santyclaws it might be too dangerous to be playing with sharp things.

Making good progress Marc! Looks like those MKs will do the trick nicely with your jig and cutting gizmo! Beware alcohol and sharp objects, you need all your fingers and toes to finish this one!

I think I want to see you do an all-Bourbon build to see how it comes out...

An all bourbon build? Hmmm, sounds interesting. New day, steady(ish) hands... for now... so I kicked the toe switch on the compressor and some colored stuff started shooting out the end of my air brush. I ran real fast and grabbed the model to put it in the path of the spray. Mr. Surfacer 1500 gray primer followed by Tamiya German gray. The gray seemed dark so I left it straight to use as a base coat and will go back and do some lightening of the panels and highlighted areas. The box on the side was also cutaway and I am going to put some stowage in there. The only thing I didn't think of until this morning as I was painting the gray was the scale. That would be just a sheet metal box so the edges are way too thick. I think there is a box on that set I found in the back of a drawer but do I want to scavenge the 1 thing out of a complete set. I have an idea for the base that will be fitting the cutaway motif.

Almost forgot. Just want to confirm... Don't want a rocket laden Typhoons seeing any big whait patches so the inside of any open hatch would be the same as the exterior color, correct?

Yep, standard practice on these guys to have the driver's hatch and commander's hatch interior surfaces painted the exterior color. Of course they have those huge leather pads on them so you're not exactly talking much exposure either way in truth!
