...my next trick will be to replicate an in-use rally car. Now your talkin' my language!!! That idea would almost make me be willing to go through the torture of adding all the decals: 20!?!?! coats of future?...please tell me you're still exaggerating that a bit. Did you at least thin it or is that straight up!? I'd think with that many coats the mirrors would be like little nubs poking out of "Lake Future"I actually have the kit for that car in your pic (only with a MONSTER bank of headlights). A friend of mine is a Subaru junkie which got me turned on to these in the first place! Not sure how I would go about the weathering, but that's the trick, isn't it? While 100 was exaggerating, 20 is not. I mean, it might be as little as 17, or as much as 22 or something, but that's the range. Needed to get a no-bs gloss to ensure that the decals would absolutely not silver...and then plenty of clear to help make the thickish Tamiya decals disappear. Remember my comment about the Future bucket for dipping? I wasn't kidding! Edit - and no, not thinned. Straight out of the bottle! That stuff sprays like magic.

Spit - "misplaced"? How do you lose an Eduard Mk.VIII??With ease. It was finding it that was difficult. if something had not fallen behind the TV it might still be back there. And no, I have no idea how it did get there. At my club meeting last Friday several of us were talking about spraying Future and some can get perfect coats and some, me included, no matter what we do we simply cannot spray Future. And speaking of 1/20 F1...My only attempt at a gloss finish was on a Tamiya Lotus. I used Tamiya rattle can, decanted and degassed, and spray with the AB. Perfect glass smooth gloss finish.

So you threw an Eduard Spit VIII behind your tv during one of your martini-and-cigar bbqs and forgot about it? Is that what you're saying?
Tamiya rattle can gloss? Interesting. Quite sure I had never even considered that before. Sweet buggy!
The trick with future is to lay it on heavy. Like, way heavier than you would ever imagine spraying any other acrylic modeling paint. The self-leveling nature is pretty amazing!

Sorry to get-off topic on your thread dupes but I'm a bit concerned about Marc...

I wouldn't worry about cutting into his thread. He's gonna post another finished mdoel any second now anyway.

Hahaha...give me a day or two, at least! I haven't decided which shelf queen I'm tackling next, anyway. Either the 1/48 ICM P-51K or the 1/48 Special Hobby Spitfire Vc Trop are leading candidates...but I've been known to veer off into odd subject directions from time to time.

Sooooooo...40 it is. Thought there might be a couple more, but "41" or "42" doesn't quite have the same ring. Looks like 2016 will start off with a veritable flurry of completions (especially since I'm home alone for the weekend!). Muaaaahahahhahahahaaaaaaa!

Thanks Bill! The total keeps climbing...I'll figure it out one of these years. Although at some point I'm going to have to stop putting off some of the bigger, time-sucking builds I've got waiting in the wings!

And outstanding year my man. Your new handle should be "3M" Marc, the Modelling Machine.
