the doors are getting closer and closer to their final look... next sealing this side with clear coat and covering the other side with color and chipping... then more chipping adding with sponge and oils streaks...

For my style of sculpting, the added rust structure is exactly the way it should be. But on a 1:72 tank I would not use it this way. Another way of producing the grid of rust is to grid down orange pastel chalk and apply this mixed with matt varnish. Using a dremel to grid away stuff from behind a, say, metal door, open the hole with a sharp scalpell with circular motions, adding thick rust at the bended forms and using different rust pigments and chipping, mottling and what can be used produces fine rusty details.

Great looking rusty door. Which technique did you use here?

Very good looking rust effect. The right side is not yet ready? The left side looks really really old and weathered

first i sprayed different rust tones in random layers. let it dry, cover it with a matte clear cote...
then i applied a thin layer of hairspray and after that i did the weathering with a ammoniak based cleaner / water mix through the airbrush to get down to the rust layers... experimenting with different water / cleaner ratios and different air pressure and different distances to the surface...
the left door is with a more water mix low and high pressure but the airbrush near to the surface. the right door is a more cleaner mix, low and high pressure but with greater distances to the surface...
with the latter method you get a lot of the mixture on the surface but you can achieve this really nice fading between top coat and rust layers. with the first method you achieve this hard edges and big spots with no top coat...
it is a adapted windex / water technique, cause windex is not available on the german market...

kope, the right side is nearly done... the spalshes from the lake do not get all the way to the right door... ;-) and probably it was maintained before the left door... :-)

Hmmm... I think, the left door was more open. And that side was protected by the wall.

The guy sitting on the bench seat reading his book looks great. Especially with his bike parked close by. Maybe for a short time he has forgotten the war ?

Looking Great, Been awhile since I read anything on this thread so just got caught up.. You're doing amazing work here, way to much to list. Just Amazing.. Did you solve your Glossy plant curling problem. If not, you may want to try some future floor polish or white glue, then gloss or Future. If you really want to do it on the cheap try using some powdered sugar and water, (May curl since you used paper) But seal afterward or the bugs/ants will like you. Sorry if I am opening old wounds here, but not being able to get red paint back then.. Really???, They don't have Red clay in Europe, or Crimson??? Funny seems to me the Germans had red oxide primer..and shhh.. Don't tell Michelangelo that no red is available in Europe, He'll have to repaint all his Murals. and if by some hand of god they are correct.. Brown fades to pink/red. I know that one as a fact as I have some signs I need to repaint that turned PINK. Tell them to go Suck eggs. Keep up the great Work.. Really looking forward to seeing this done, Plus I want to make sure I schedule mine as not finish in the same month as you as I want a chance in the MOM voting.
