Hey Nic, I hope you are feeling better mate, seems that everyone I know has had their health issues lately! Excellent work on the shield, pity that it ended up falling... Almost on the home stretch with this one!

Thank you, Shay, that's true, in Romania too they were very strange forms of virosis. I'll come back a little later, I'll be gone for some scientific events untill beginning of April. Cheers, Nicolae

Dennis, thank you very much for your kindness. I'm quite ok now, so, after Easter (yeah, the Orthodox Easter was last weekend) and a busy program with my research, back to my brushes! Just some little steps, to not let impression I really disappeared. I do not know if influenced by the red of Easter eggs, but I really put in my mind to modify the red feathers and the same colour on the shield . So ... I gave myself a chance and started the attack, of course, far away untill the end. Also small changes on the shield, the inner scales of armor ( where I put some ink from Vallejo , now I had to do some lights).Sweet nothings( and it took me two hours!)! And still a lot of errors, mistakes. Maybe I'll come back Sunday. Cheers! Nicolae

Patience, young padawan, patience is the keyword! But I feel like you, it is frustrating to do hours after hours layering work and all you see is a small glimpse of light and shadow. Not hesitating is the word here, keep painting the action!
Love the shield, looks really good till now! Keep in coming, Nico!

Thank you, my friends. Andy, I don't know, we have to ask him about it. Some more photos, I've finished the inner part of the shield.

Yeah, the shield desings were the way to go! Do not know if the portrayed guys in the movie 300 are historically correct (too much six packs in my eyes...) but I guess, two fighters in this design on a rocky base could look cool! Shield here is excellent, Nico!

He he, don' tempt me, please! I was thinking to something less violent. Frank, you already noticed the actors from the movie as fresh graduates of Spartan Academy of Fitness! And the pants as formal dress. Ridiculous! No, this is a minus for the movie. I have an idea of scenery for my hoplite, but implies only this figurine. Sorry!

Nicusi -yeah but remember it's based on a comic book and as such it is magnificent as it looks just like in the comic book. All the mistakes and exaggerations are already in the comic book.

Good point, Lukasz, you're right! But I'm so interested in historical accuracy that it became my only filter and I forget sometimes such aspects.

I know. My better half doesn't get it when I criticize S-F or Fantasy movie which isn't accurate with the book, game or what ever

OK, than I better forget about those War Rhinos, -Elefants and -giants shown there. Seem to be fantasy too, lol! I think, when I will paint a "realistic" figure, I concentrate on kits like Pegaso etc., with tons of details and where I might duplicate the box cover when it comes to heraldic or historical accuratesse... It is realative trusty I think! And, Lukasz, have seen the latest trailers of upcoming movies and hell, they blew me away! No historical correctness so to say, but action and Special Effects galore! OK, back to topic...

Frank, I dissapointed you already twice, my friend. I feel I need to have my future "revenge" with something not "historically" (and I have something in my grey army but prefer to not give details now). But for now, I have to finish this Lokroi hoplite as he's advancing fearless towards Persian army, trough blood, arrows and camarades fallen at Thermopylae. Cheers, Nicolae

Yoho, Nico, sooner or later I get them all, lol! Doing some fantasy stuff that means. And you bet that I am very interested in this! And you should not give up hope: I will do something historically soon! It may take two or three months but it comes: I have prepped a bigger Pegaso figure for painting and I guess, it will look good!

Frank, so will have a match of revenges, Frank enter in the Historical Team, Nicu in a Phantasy one. Can't wait to see! Untill then, just a short update regarding the blade of the kopis (here some archeological proofs, www.forensicfashion.com/files/BC490GreekHopliteSwordKopisMet01.jpg). Everything worked with this set of Scale75 (http://www.scale75.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=157). The base colour Black Metal + Trash Metal, then some glazes with Heavy Metal to the CB in order to make the first lights. Shades with Black Metal, some Smoke of Vallejo for something as used blade. The extreme lights with Speed Metal added to the Heavy Metal+CB. I made also some scratches on the blade and the shield. Cheers! Nicu

Yeah, Mate! I always say, keep your mind open for new stuff, so exchanging our loved themes can only bring very cool surprises!
The metal looks great (I wanted to suggest some "dryed blood" on it, but very subtle...). Very good work. And now for the shield!

Some more photos, unfortunatelly still a little time, only Sundays. I've worked the hair, Model Color 70950 Black, then Black mixed with 72020 Imperial Blue, washes with Game Color Wash 73.201 Black Wash, then I started to add white for lights and a fine drybrush with this mix with more White for extreme lights. The helmet, especially the crest with the two horse hair was reworked on the shadows and lights. Not still very pleased about the result. The scenery also fixed, so hope to put soon an end to the last details and starting work to the ground. Cheers! Nicolae
