Never mind on a bad day, it will pass! Try to concentrate on your workmanship and smile! I know, this may sound a bit silly, but it helps! What do you want to do with this new guy??

Thank you very much, mates! Actually, this is also a test for a Greek Antiquity series I've got in my mind. I had to come with better photos, the figurine isn't very bad but also have some limits (the arms and back of the legs). I made some cleaning but for the rest, I'll have to put my brush at hard work. Frank, I don't know about scenery, at least very precisely. I have some ideas, a public space, some stairs, a column, a building scenery or just a simple natural scenery one. It depends on the personage personal story I want to tell! I take advantage of situation to show you a recent new entry form Art Girona: www.art-girona.com/serie-historical/3116-leonidas-i-king-of-sparta-489-480bc.htmlCheers, Nicolae

Niko, I really admire your will to paint even not so well sculpted figures and turn them into well balanced (colourwise spoken) little gems. You are really a COOL painter because of your will doing so!

Hy my friends! After a month full with health problems (virosis, discal hernia), not fully recovered, I tried to resist some hours on a chair. Not very pleased with the results, I still have to wait to be in a better shape. A lot of details were worked (the feathers of the helmet, the sword, the sheath, the flesh tones and the muscles of the arms and legs, more definitions to the legs). Still a lot to do the cuirass. Hope everybody be luckier than me and enjoy his workbench! Nic

Hi Nic This is coming along nicely! I really like the work you have done on the armour, that gold looks fantastic. I hope you are feeling better mate, I had a viral infection the past few weeks and I know all about back problems...two hernias that flare up at least two to three times a year, not pleasant at all! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Frank, Leon, Shay, thank you, my friends. Shay, actually the metal is a bronze one. Vallejo Model Color, but still to work the lights and some inks in the deepest areas.I'm sorry for the quality of photos, it looks better in reality. I added more red on the cuirass linen parts (linothorax). I'm not very confortable with the sheath, still looking for better solutions. Also the face makes me crazy, not the result I want, too pale. The kopis blade (https://periklisdeligiannis.wordpress.com/2012/11/04/the-hoplite-swords/)was worked with Scale 75, Black Metal, Trash Metal, some light washes with Vallejo Model Color Bronze, lights with Vallejo Model Air Aluminium. They didn't use steel in that time, so I had to be carefull not to show a "medieval blade". I'll be back when I could work another some hours.

Get rid of these disturbing healthy problems and come in a better shape, man! Rest yourself, take it easy and calm down a bit. No worries about getting a figure right when ill; I have sometimes the same problems and am not happy with them. But time will tell!
Aren´t those hoplites the guys presented in the movie "300"??

Hi my friends! Some more steps to my Lokros hoplite. I worked at the shield. Unfortunatelly, I had a little accident, my shield "landed" in my wet palette, some red still visible on the bronze border of the shield. Not finished yet, still a lot things to do. Cheers! Nicolae

Leon, Andy, thank you, my friends for your kind words! Still far away, a lot of details, come-backs, we'll gonna see. As I had to be present at the end of May at our most important competition, Static Models International Contest "Alba Carolina Cup", IPMS Romania, I try to finish at least this and maybe the Norman or the Roman Legionary. If my health problems will give me a break. Have a good day! Nic
