Nice one mate. Love the Pz. IV you depicted. The weathering is sublime I must say. Are you goin' to add a crew to it?
Cheers

Thanks gents! T, you've got it right...I've adopted the slogan of only building when I have the urge and not "forcing" things and that's led to a lower production volume but an increase in the fun factor for sure. Wouter, no plans for a crew...I deliberately posed all the hatches open to show off the "Super Kit" interior details that the DML kit provided...plus a few additions of my own to fill in some of the detail gaps.

Love the PZ IV Bill. Yep, always best to build when the mojo is there, or it's no fun. Looking forward to your 2012 builds. your starting the year off good.

Thanks Rob, the Super Kit was quite the slog...at over 1k parts, it's not a "quick" build by any stretch...took me about 4 months to get it done but I did enjoy it despite the lengthy duration.

Thanks John! Boo, one of the first kits I ever built was a Tamiya Pz IV-D...it's still kicking around somwhere in one of the "donor" boxes of kits in the closet I think! Happy to provide you with a convenient excuse to buy another kit though! As for the panzer gray I used, it's primarily Testors Model Maseter enamel Panzer Schwarzgrau laid down as a base coat and highlighted with an 80/20 mix of the Schwarzgrau/Light Gray before the camo was added and the weathering done. HTH! I kept a build log of the project here: www.bpmodels.net/Model/Album/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=54 if you're interested in seeing the details of the painting/weathering.

Only 3 builds in 2011, Bill? What's slowed you down from your normally lightning-fast pace?
The IV C looks great, btw. I've been delaying any of my "super kits" due mainly to the 1k+ parts counts. Ouch.

Dupes, A lot slowed me down in 2011...but my build pace had been steadily declining even in 2010 prior. Some of it is due to taking more time and applying more methods to the weathering and painting stages, some of it is due to just not having as much time available, and some of it (for a while) was a loss of drive to build. I started an MBA program in Sept last year (slated to finish March 2013) and that takes up a lot of my time now but I still get in bench time on a regular basis, just in smaller chunks. As for the "Super" kits, this is the 2nd one I've tackled...the first one was in 2006 and it was a bruising experience...took me a long while before I felt "ready" to tackle one again and the 2nd time around wasn't nearly as challenging since my skills had progressed significantly but it still took me about 4 months to finish it...partly because I decided to display the turret interior and partly because the aforementioned MBA kept taking priority.

Ooooog...yeah, I can see how an MBA might put a damper on your production!

Thanks Prof.! Gray vehicles present their challenges (as do most monochrome schemes) but can also provide a lot of "canvas" to work with.

Bill it needs to be on a base with it sitting on dusty sand to justify being so dusty looking.
Most of your builds are never that dirty and look fine without a base.
How's that for constructive criticism? You don't have to if you don't want to. ;D

Thanks Spud, the kit is a fun one to build and has lots of detail packed into it, definitely one I'd recommend picking up and look forward to seeing what you do with yours when the time comes! T, PM inbound. Tony, always appreciate your comments my friend! The only trouble with a base is that it wouldn't fit in the display cabinet, so for now it will go solo but who knows for the future? Maybe I should ship it to you so it can join your Diana and Pzjgr I!
