I don't normally build 1/72 but I wanted in on the group build and I cannot justify buying another kit with so many waiting to be finished. I had this one laying around and i will be doing a unit near Kiev in 1941. I did some work last night and on my lunch break today. Still need to clean up the seams. [/URL]

Just a small update. Speaking of small... This thing is small. I lost a part so I am waiting for Revell to send a replacement. It says it can take up to 12 weeks! I am hoping that is a overestimation on a grand scale. I can build around it though. I may try to make my first scene. Zvezda has a 1/72 Flak with a crew. I may pick that up, use the crew for this and try to make my first base. Anyone have a good thread showing how to make a simple base? Thanks, Dennis Photos taken with phone. When you say small Dennis, how small is it.
Hope the replacement arrives soon.

When you say small Dennis, how small is it. Hope the replacement arrives soon. It is 1/72 scale which without glasses is now unfortunately just a blurry mess. Here is the scene I had in mind. This is not the same type of gun but I liked how it looks like they were towing the gun and saw a target of opportunity so they just fired from the towing position.

Cool about firing from the towing position... hope the part arrives sooner than 12 weeks!

Coming along nicely Dennis! Looks like a nice level of detail given the scale for sure.

Dennis I really like this. It will look really cool with the SdKfz 7 in the scene. And what you've done so far is stunning.
A few minutes ago I was looking at the Barbarossa time line and realized, once again, I was not paying attention. If I'm going to get in on this I need to make a choice and a start. As Bill can tell you I have been know to... once or twice... OK... twice... do the same thing as someone else since sometimes I can't get an original thought in my head. I would like to use your thoughts this time. I've wanted to do an artillery piece for a long time and have always loved the look of an 88. So if you don't mind, I would like to take inspiration from you and do an 88 as well.
We can look at it as a Duel Build within a Group Build.

Are you going to do a 1/72 scale? Are you going to get the Sdkfz. 7? Do you want to do separate threads or start a duel build thread within the group build thread and do them together? I like the idea of combining into one thread but I am okay either way. Dennis

Cool. Don't see the point of doing 2 threads. We can just kind of pretend we are going head to head here No SdKfz 7 but have been looking at pics for ideas for a dug in emplacement. I have not decided on this kit or the AVF 1/35 kit. I am on the fence and hoping that a trip to the LHS will only have 1 of the kits to make my decision for me.

Nice one Dennis and great choices too , both of those kits are probably the best on the market . The Flak is the best and the 7 is on a par with the trumpy one . Have fun cause I know I am watching the build !

The big gun looks great, Dennis. Don't worry too much about wingy treading in on you. He does that now he just has to catch up. At least you're getting your ideas from someone new, Marc. 109s, mini-subs, Corsairs, 88s...where does it end kidding of course. Now it's double the fun.

I went ahead and changed the name of the thread. I didn't have much time to work on thus but i started thinning the edges of the gun shield. The scale thickness would have been about 3 or 4 inches and just doesn't look right. Here is one side done to show the difference.
